“A very special evening”

We have stayed here before many years ago and it was amazing then and amazing now, mainly catering for weddings we were the only guests staying on the night we were there. The manager and the owner were totally amazing even bringing the chef in to make us breakfast the next day even though only two guests!. Location is off the beaten track but good for a stop over en route north or south. Highly recommended

To be improved

Nothing really we were treat like royalty.

“A jewel. A stay here is memorable but too short”

The best

The blend of old and new has been perfectly executed, making the whole stay one a pleasure on the eye. The option of the restaurant is great although on this occasion I did not use it. However, the breakfast and service was outstanding and highly recommended. Overall this is a very professional, yet friendly experience. One I hope to repeat one day.

“Interesting Spanish hotel with a good restaurant.”

The best

This is a very Spanish set up. We only saw 3 other people the whole time we were there. I think the Chef let us in at the rear of the hotel, a waiter took our order at dinner and served us and on leaving I paid my bill to a young man who let us out. It did feel a bit like ‘you can check out anytime you like but you can never leave’!

Lack of information of how to get in and how to leave. Very little English spoken, our problem not their’s.

Great welcome and the evening meal in the restaurant was outstanding. We needed to get some medication and the hotel phoned the pharmacy in the next village to ensure they had the medication and to advise them that we were coming to collect.

To be improved

Failed to get any hot water from the shower and very little water pressure.

“We loved this historic, renovated castle in the heart of vineyards and medieval towns.”

Cristina swept us up in her exuberant hospitality the moment we walked into this old castle, and she was always there to make sure we were comfortable, happy, well-fed, and paying attention to the special features of the building: the original floors and stairs, and the paintings by the general who bought the castle originally. This inn appears to be THE place for big weddings and other celebrations in the area, and there are large rooms on the first floor to accomodate hundreds of guests, but the dining room for hotel guests is intimate and elegant. And there is a small bar by the entrance where you can have drinks and tapas. The feeling of hospitality extends to every one of the staff we met, and especially to the owner, Enrique, who personally mapped out a day trip for us to visit castles, monasteries, churches, and interesting walled towns nearby.

The best

We loved everything about this hotel ! A 1200 year old castle then renovated into a palace and finally to finish up as a modern, trendy and chic place to stay. The restaurant was fabulous great food and fresh ingredients and very good service. Must do the breakfast as it was a bargain for what you got. The hosts/ owners and staff were so nice, friendly and helpful, we even got a personalised tour of the local village. Oh forgot to mention it is associated with the vineyard nearby with great selection of the local wine … triple bonus
