“Worst accommodation experience I've ever had”

The best

The location was really good, it was super close to Pedregalejo beach and 2 minutes from bus stop on either side and buses were quite frequent. It was really easy to get to Malaga or El Paso with public transport. There were supermarkets really close to the place and a pharmacy as well. The bed was comfortable and the pillows were good. The kitchen was fully equipped with a fridge, no basics though.

Our experience started poorly with unexpected late check-in fees that were not mentioned anywhere. I contacted the host a week in advance even though they say 2 days, but got no response for days. Eventually, I received an email asking for €25, then another reply to my WhatsApp message demanding €45 for late checkin fees. It also had to be in cash. This was never disclosed beforehand. Thankfully, Holidu (via Booking.com) was helpful and mediated, but the host refused to waive the fee or even cancel my booking for free. Holidu reimbursed part of it, which I had to accept. They wanted a receipt that we paid the late check-in fees to reimburse and there was a big song and dance after which she didn't give it to me as I told Holidu to contact the host themselves. On arrival night, I kept the host updated. We arrived at 1:20 AM (as communicated), but no one was there. My call was declined at first, and when she finally answered, she was surprised we had arrived. Someone came 10 mins later, only to tell us the room wasn’t ready. We were luckily put in another studio literally next door for the night. Next day, we were told to move to our original room at 15:30, but a cleaner interrupted us at 14:30 during a work call, insisting we move immediately. The new studio smelled terrible when the AC was turned on. We requested air fresheners, which were dropped outside without notice. We stayed 5 nights and no one came to clean or offered to. The kitchen had utensils but lacked basics like oil, salt, or sugar. The host only replied in Spanish, often after long delays. At checkout, there were no instructions for key return; even after contacting, she replied super late. We also saw a lot of mold on the ceilings and the walls. My partner had allergies due to it. Overall, communication was poor, the host was unprofessional, and the service fell far short of expectations. Definitely the worst accommodation I’ve stayed in. I would definitely not recommend booking this place.

“Very good”

The best

It was good, nice welcoming, good equipment, perfect location: close to bus station to city center, almost directly at the beach. The apartment has a washing machine, a kitchen, a comfy bed, a couch - less comfy, but totally ok. The apartment is spacious. Owner and her son were very friendly and helpful in every detail. Supermarket is close. 2-3 options for breakfast around the corner.

Well, it's basic, but considering the price I was really happy there.
