Cortijo El Rancho

The Perfect escape from the world’s madness, a rewarding experience back to the simple life. Rory and I came across this listing one evening while planning a birthday trip to Spain, it turned out to be the most incredible celebration delivering way above what we’d expected. From the rolling Andalusian hills to the perfectly equipped family home that greeted us, we couldn’t have asked for a better spot. Some of the highlights were the last 10 minutes off road in the SUV we’d picked up at the airport to reach the farmhouse, the humongous fireplace we cooked on must nights, the short walk up to the swimming pool area which felt like being in a completely different property, the silence and light. Ángeles is a wonderful host who made sure we had everything we might need including a bottle of her brother’s delightful home made wine. I couldn’t recommend this place enough, you just must book it!

A wonderful place for us to walk from the door, we did 62 miles in 6 days. The pool and location is stunning. Total privacy and if you like birds and walking it’s spot on. We got our cupra estate up the track nada problemo. We would struggle to find somewhere so beautiful and special as this. Lovely BBQ area. We saw golden orioles and Hoopoes from the balcony. A brilliant week away and we loved walking in the hills and on the rambla into Albanchez for lunch. Aguilas for a day is always ace too if you want the beach.
