“Extraordinary location in its own right, also close to San Sebastian by bus or a 2hr hike”
An extraordinary location, with huge ships passing by the balcony and great swimming off the jetty below. Donebanea is transforming from an industrial shipyard to a part tourist destination. It's right on the Camino de Santiago and that means great walks in both directions. It takes about 30 mins to San Sebastian by bus, or by ferry and bus. The hotel is actually a pension, with a small number of beautifully crafted rooms and a small reception area that also serves as a breakfast room. An architect has re-imagined a traditional house and the result is stunning, if rather expensive. Make sure you have a sea view.
We're older travellers and we like plenty of local information and advice. We got this when we talked to the right person, just a couple of hours before leaving. The whole place is such an interesting project, not just an overnight stay, and it would have been great to know about it sooner.
“Magical”
This hotel and location is magical!
Everything was perfect
“This is the perfect place to relax, take in the beauty of the region, and enjoy some true Basque charm. Highly recommend”
.The building itself is full of character and history, with thick stone walls that give it a warm, rustic charm. My room had breathtaking sea views and a balcony to sit and enjoy morning coffee.

“Could be better if we had another room”
The accommodation is nice, renovated! The breakfast and the lady at the breakfast was good.
The room we had was not the best one. When the people in the room above you walk, it was very noisy. And we couldn’t’ open the window, because of the stairs next to the window. The price of the room was high, to high for the room we got.
“The apartment was great, host as well. This part of town is pedestrian zone, but amazing. · Cons: All restaurants close at 9pm!!!!!!! 10 min walk from the parking with all the suitcases:-(”
