“Unsafe Conditions, Serious Injury, and No Response from Host”
Unsafe Conditions, Serious Injury- I strongly DO NOT recommend this accommodation- READ ALSO MY RESPONSE TO Property response: I am sharing a photo of my injury (picture of my hallux was taken today—almost one month after the incident!), as well as a picture of the broken cabinet door that caused it. These were taken inside the apartment, and anyone familiar with this place will recognize the setting. The suggestion that this property was in “perfect condition” is just more dishonesty. That cabinet door detached and fell directly on my foot—sending me to the emergency room with a suspected fracture. I’m still dealing with pain, limited mobility, and medical expenses. Also, look at the type of responses they sent me (see the two screenshots)—they simply told me to contact Booking.com, offering absolutely no help or support. LIARS!!!! I’m not uploading private medical reports here for obvious confidentiality reasons. However, if anyone wants to see the full documentation, I am happy to provide it. You can email me directly and I’ll send everything: medical reports, and receipts. Furthermore, the host also claims they “proactively contacted Booking.com. LIARS!!! Booking.com confirmed to me in writing that the property NEVER responded to them—not once. I am attaching screenshots of that conversation here, so everyone can see the truth.
I stayed at Dreaming Bazán in Granada from 17–19 May 2025, and this was by far one of the worst and most distressing travel experiences I’ve had. Upon arrival, I found that the shower only had cold water. While trying to locate the boiler in the kitchen, I opened a cabinet door—only for it to suddenly detach and fall directly onto my foot, causing a serious injury. I ended up spending the day in the emergency room, where doctors suspected a broken toe and warned I may lose the toenail. This injury has significantly impacted my mobility and will affect me for several months, both physically and mentally. I’ve had to cover medical expenses, including treatment and supplies from a trauma specialist pharmacy in Granada. Most shocking of all: the property management never replied to me, not once, after I reached out to inform them of what happened and request assistance. Despite multiple attempts to make contact, I received no acknowledgment, apology, or support. I also know that Booking.com has attempted to reach them on my behalf, and they still have not responded. This lack of accountability is unacceptable. The conditions were unsafe, the injury was severe, and the complete absence of communication from the hosts shows a total disregard for guest wellbeing. I strongly do not recommend this accommodation and urge others to avoid it. I am currently pursuing a full refund and appropriate compensation through Booking.com. RESPONSE: I am shocked by the host’s response, which is full of outright lies and an astonishing lack of accountability. They claim I never provided any photos or documentation. That is false. I did send everything to them and Booking.com, including a detailed report of the incident and photos. Something to be aware of: Bathroom might be a bit narrow for bigger people or people with disabilities. It is a tight squeeze between the toilet and the shower. Was not an issue for us though.
