El Caleton Garden Apartment

The only thing that let it down was lack of small freezer as we like to have drinks in that require ice , also I missed having an oven as we like to cook in some nights.

Now, coming to the apartment itself and to the other side of the coin. At first glance the apartment appears nice, but when looking into the details it's only mediocre. Why? Because it's in a poor condition (except the kitchen) The closets smell worse than basements in most homes. Leave your clothes in there and you smell like a homeless after two weeks. The floor is old and full of damages. The beds are also old, while mattresses were okay. The bathroom was maybe okay in the 80s, but is just not acceptable anymore in the 2020s, especially when compared to all the nice modern apartments in El Cotillo town. This place is not a cheap one. It costs more than 700 EUR per week and is fully booked throughout most of the year. Taking this into consideration it's unexplainable to me why the owner does not give it a complete refurbishment but prefers to let it degenerate instead. In general you can feel that there is little love invested into the maintenance of this apartment. Ironically in this regard: when making the booking, you will get an email from the owner asking you to transfer 300 EUR into the bank account of the British owner as a safety deposit. After arriving, you seriously find yourself asking: What for? What's also worth knowing about the location of the apartment is that it's not located at playa la Concha. It's actually one beach further north, which is entirely nudist territory! Already playa de la Concha has nudists, but not as many as on the beach of the apartment. You will see many many naked individual baking in the sun and unfortunately sometimes peeing onto the beach due to a lack of facilities. In my eyes, there is no aesthetics into this culture and for sure it is the wrong place for young kids anyway! Thus, I wouldn't recommend neither the beach nor the apartment. Also as another side information it's worth knowing that the beach in front of El Caleton was full of masses of algae in the month of November!

The one note was the bedroom was quite stuffy to sleep in with it being very warm at night. If there was an electric fan that would have gone a long way.
