El Foyu

Our rooms was super clean and the breakfast plentiful. The hotel stands on a small hill just outside the town - though within walking distance of the centre - and has a lovely view across the valley to the mountains. There is a good restaurant of the same name at the foot of the hill. This was our third stay at El Foyu. I think that tells you a lot.

I stayed only one night but was very pleased with the property.

I think the fact that we stayed at El Foyu on our outward journey 5 weeks ago and chose to stay there again on our return journey says it all. The hotel is charming and situated in a quiet rural area with a lovely view of part of the Picos de Europe. The bed was large and comfy and the bathroom superlatively clean. The breakfast was varied and plentiful.

The hotel is charming with antique furniture and curiosities such as an amazingly intricate bird cage (btw no birds were kept prisoner). Outside was, I think, a magnolia which had been pruned to make an umbrella shape under which, in summer, one could sit out and enjoy the view of the mountains. There was also a traditional maize store next to the hotel. We were provided with heaters as the weather had turned cold. The bed was comfy and the bathroom large. Everything was spotlessly clean. Breakfast was plentiful and varied. The evening meal was in an associated restaurant 30 metres down the hillside. (We had a delicious shellfish soup.) All in all we had a pleasant stay and will be returning.

Rural and very beautiful location. Excellent hotel. We would definitely come back.
