Fantastic location with beautiful roof terrace and view. Flat had lots of character and well equipped for a short stay. Host was there to welcome us and gave us lots of helpful guidance of where to eat and things to do.

“Very poor”
Unfortunately, our stay at "El Mirador De Mendizabal" was not as nice as we had hoped. About the accommodation: Basically, at first glance, a cosy accommodation, centrally located next to the "Mercado De Vegueta". The flat is on the fourth floor and there is an elevator up till the third floor, if it works. The roof terrace is definitely a highlight, as is the spacious, open-plan living room. The bathroom and bedroom were far less appealing. The bedroom only has a window to a light well, which is probably used as storage space for old junk. Although the bathroom has a nice, large walk-in shower, it is also past its best years, which is particularly noticeable on the floor and in the corners. The kitchen has everything you need for a holiday. Unfortunately, some of the worktop tiles are already loose, the large glass front to the roof terrace is leaking and the fridge is leaking water, which is unfortunately noticeable in the odour of the flat. The rest of the furnishings are a matter of taste. Apart from the uncomfortable chairs at the dining table, we quite liked it. The roof terrace offers a beautiful view of the sea and the container ships anchored there. The table and chairs are very comfortable and invite you to spend cosy hours here, e.g. at breakfast or dinner. Now, unfortunately, we have to comment on the circumstances of our stay, which is clearly one of our worst experiences with holiday accommodation to date: When we arrived and went upstairs (the lift wasn't working) we saw that the flat below was a building site. We were greeted by a very friendly lady who first showed us around the flat and then gave us some tips for the first few days of our stay. We should have been informed about the nature and duration of the construction site and the associated restrictions at this point, but we were only told that there would be no hot water for about an hour the next day, but that these restrictions were only temporary.
We were not informed of the true circumstances about the construction site at this point. We rarely had hot water during all the days of our 10-day stay. Unfortunately, we often had to take cold showers. Over the next few days, we were woken up by construction noise. The flat below was getting refurbished, which involved demolition work. From 9 o'clock in the morning, people were working with sledgehammers and other heavy tools. No work was carried out on the site over the Easter holidays, which led us to wrongly assume that the building work had been completed. Unfortunately, this continued after the public holidays. When we submitted our complaint to the accommodation management, we were told that we should have submitted it on the first day. In other words, at the time when the friendly lady explained to us that the building site work was only temporary. In principle, they were understanding, apologised and even explained that legal action would be taken against the construction site operator. We were therefore given confirmation that the construction site meant a significant reduction in quality. For this reason, we had hoped to be able to agree about a reduction/discount with the landlord. Unfortunately, we were denied this as "the invoice has already been subject to a number of non-refundable tax checks". We were only promised a discount for a future stay. However, a repeat visit is very unlikely due to the way we were treated here and the distance (we are from Germany). Fortunately, after submitting a complaint to Booking.com, we received a credit note from Bookings. Unfortunately, we have heard nothing more from those responsible for the accommodation. For our part, we cannot recommend the accommodation for these reasons. Michael and Sonja
