The room was quite nice - once we had opened the closed shutters.

To be improved

When we arrived, the hotel was completely shut up - shutters closed, door locked, no staff present. We telephoned the hotel - someone answered and said they would come over and let us in the hotel. As they didn’t speak any English, it was difficult to understand the situation - but it soon became clear that we were the only guests. The restaurant and ‘spa’ were closed but breakfast was promised. When we left the hotel to look around the village, we realised that our room key would not open the door to the hotel - so left it ajar. When we returned, the only staff member had left and closed the door behind them. We were locked out again! So we called the number and the staff member agreed to come and open the door and explained that a code number on the key fob would open the door - not previously explained. Realising that we would be the only people in the hotel - no guests or staff - we decided to leave and found alternative accommodation. A truly awful experience.
