“Modern Hotel with underground parking”
The best

The hotel is situated just on the main road with a steep drive down to secure underground parking, which as other have stated has a steep entrance ramp. We were on motorbikes and this was a challenge but with care is ok. There is a lift to some floors from the car park but not all floors. The better rooms are on the top floor and offer views from the balcony. The road side rooms may give some road noise but we did not have them. There was a bar and the receptionist was working the bar as well at the time we were there so service could be slow at the wrong time. They have a terrace area on which you can sit and have your drinks which is nice. We chose to eat out in the town which is a 10 min or so walk down hill which is also the beach area as well. Plenty of choice there for drinking and eating. The Staff were friendly and helpful with limited English but not a problem

“One night stop over”
The best

Hotel is located on a very busy street. The underground parking is challenging with 90 degree turns and a steep driveway. Receptionist wasn't particularly friendly, appeared distracted. No food was available when we arrived, but a continental breakfast was provided in the morning. The room was clean and comfortable but the wifi was only accessible in the reception area and bar. It was a short walk down the side roads to the beach and returning we came along the main avenue which had a large selection of restaurants.

“Pretty, well furnished immaculate hotel”
The best

Lovely spacious, spotless room with balcony. The beds were large and very comfortable. The furniture is new and in immaculate condition. Check in was very slow and the staff were a bit surly. Although the hotel has parking, we parked on the main road as there is a steep slope down into the parking area- not for the fainthearted. You also need to be reasonably fit as you have to walk down the steep incline to the hotel.

“A small hotel, immaculate and friendly”
The best

A really lovely hotel (once we'd found it). Efficient friendly welcome, assistance with luggage up to room. Twin bedded room, wonderful soft beds, duvets, everything immaculately clean. Good size and bright bathroom, bath with shower over, lovely white thick towels. Wi-fi in the room was really fast, we were told that if a lot of people are using it it slows downs but we had no problem at all. TV and plenty of storage space. We had a room facing the road but didn't find it noisy. Nice to have a little printed notice advising of basic facilities and times. Meals can be provided in the lovely dining room which overlooks the pretty garden. Certain meals are made in house, we were able to have a tuna salad not long after we arrived late afternoon. Chinese and pizza can be ordered for you from a local take away during opening hours. Lovely selection for breakfast, fresh orange juice, cereals, cakes, coffee. Parking is available underground with a lift to the upper floors. Just be aware that the drive is very steep with a couple of sharp turns, a bigger vehicle might not negotiate it.

“good value, well run”
The best

Doesn't look too promising from the road, but is much better once you are inside. We had a first floor room on the seaward side and could here no road noise and had a balcony with decent view. The room and bathroom were a good standard and were kept very clean, and the hotel has had a recent refit and redecoration throughout. Breakfast was a continental buffet served in a pleasant ground floor room (garden view). The beach nearby at Santa Cristina is a short walk, and is a sandy, roomy beach raked clean daily. You can walk in either direction along a coastal promenade, and the walk towards Santa Cruz takes you past beaches, parks and a castle, with views over the city. Santa Cristina has several restaurants, bars and a shop, but is very quiet at night. Downsides are the very steep drive into the garage; the walk to the beach starts along a section of pavement, partly broken and scruffy by a busy road; the 170 or 172 bus to A Coruna stops nearby every 25 mins (but a lot of guesswork involved), but the final stop at the bus station leaves a long walk through the worst bits of city, so you need to take a second bus. (There is a direct night bus from the centre from Puerto Real Fri and Sat 11pm,1am and 3am, or a taxi is 8.50-10 euro.) Driving into the city is not advisable - the road layouts are complicated, the traffic frantic and no street parking, only expensive underground car parks. So a pleasant spot to stay with ocassional access to A coruna, but, not as easy as we'd thought to nip into the city and back.

“Value for money”
The best

If you are looking for a clean and comfortable hotel that can be easily accessed by car, this is the place. It's far from fancy, but the rooms and bathrooms are clean, the plumbing and heating/airconditioning are in tiptop condition, and the underground parking has a lift that takes you straight to your floor. Ask for a room that faces the "playa" although don't expect a big blue sea under your balcony as the hotel is not beachfront. There is no restaurant as such (just a breakfast room) but there are loads of places within walking distance. I found this place by chance and we've been back there twice since our discovery.
