We stayed at El Petit Convent, booking 4 rooms, with only one including breakfast. Unfortunately, the breakfast service experience completely ruined what could have been a pleasant stay.
On our first morning, we arrived 15 minutes before breakfast ended and politely asked if we could still have breakfast. We helped ourselves respectfully, and everything seemed fine. Later that day, the reception team — always friendly and professional — asked if we would be having breakfast the next day so they could plan accordingly, which made sense. At that point, we honestly didn’t know yet as our plans were not confirmed.
On that first morning, we paid separately for the family members whose room did not include breakfast, as expected.
However, on our last morning, when we decided to have breakfast, the lady in charge treated us with open rudeness and suspicion. Despite clearly explaining that two family members had already had breakfast earlier and paid for it, and that our room — the only one with breakfast included — hadn’t even used it yet, she kept questioning us, repeatedly asking why we hadn’t “said anything the previous day,” as if changing plans were something to be ashamed of. She even went to check with reception if we were “allowed” to have breakfast, making us waste time and feel uncomfortable, almost as if we were trying to sneak in.
To make it worse, she claimed they might not have enough food — which was simply absurd, considering breakfast was still open for another 20 minutes, the buffet was fully stocked, and we were the only guests there.
Frankly, if they expect guests to book breakfast in advance, they should state it clearly on their website or when checking in — not interrogate guests as if they’re trying to get away with something.
We left immediately and had breakfast elsewhere.
As a side note, our rooms were not cleaned the previous day, further proof of poor organization.
