Elba Estepona Gran Hotel & Thalasso Spa

Quick and efficient service for drink and food.

This is a typical all-inclusive hotel that probably deserved its 5 stars about 30 years ago. Today, it feels quite outdated and far from what you would expect from a modern 5-star property. The furniture is worn, armchairs are clearly used, and while the hotel is relatively clean at first glance, the overall maintenance and housekeeping are quite underwhelming. For example, the bathroom sinks were not properly cleaned — they looked the same in the evening as they did in the morning. Slippers we left on the floor stayed exactly where they were, which made it clear that housekeeping mostly just made the beds and replaced towels. Overall, the cleaning felt quite superficial. Some windows didn’t seal properly and were slightly loose, which added to the feeling of the hotel being worn out. Thankfully, despite some reviews mentioning cockroaches, we didn’t encounter any. The breakfast buffet was very good — a wide selection and plenty of food. However, there was no coffee machine in the room, only a kettle, which is not what you’d expect at this level. The hotel is located right by the sea, which is a plus, but it’s essentially in the middle of nowhere. There’s nothing around — a highway on one side, the sea on the other. The nearest options are an Aldi and a Burger King, and Estepona is about a 10-minute drive away. Another downside is the strong smell of food throughout the hotel during meal times. That said, the hotel is significantly cheaper than others in the area, which likely explains a lot. Just don’t expect a true 5-star experience.

Everything was perfect, from the way they treat their guests to the food, restaurants and room service. We were having our honeymoon and got a free upgrade. Highly recommended to everyone.

Absolutely fabulous! We had an amazing family time. Perfect location right on the beach, the staff was helpful and professional (kids club +++), the room was spotless, really good food and the spa was above and beyond!! Thank you!!
