“Fine apartment, poor communication”
The best

The apartment is well situated: in a quiet and nice neighbourhood, with a few small stores, small cafes, and two supermarkets (Lidl and Mercadona) in the vicinity. Those willing to explore the nightlife will also find a few bars not far from the place. And even though the apartment is located on a busy street (Carrer d’Arago), the double windows kept all outside noise outside. We could, however, occasionally hear our heighbours from upstairs or downstairs, which was sometimes mildly disturbing. The apartment has a nice living room with basic but comfortable furniture, two rather small bedrooms very close to each other (one is a suite with a private but tiny bathroom), and a standalone even smaller bathroom. The kitchen has a dishwasher and a washing machine, but is quite narrow and can fit 2 people at a time. If you are planning on cooking a lot you may find it lacking some utensils and tableware (e.g. in particular, mugs). The bedrooms had lots of sunlight (you can close the shutters if you prefer to sleep in the dark), and the beds were comfortable. The wardrobe in one of the bedrooms, however, had a problem with drawers, and we struggled a bit to pull them out to put our clothes inside. Also, the safe would not work, as someone had locked its door with a PIN. If you are travelling as a group, mind that the hot water in the boiler would usually be enough for 3 people at a time, and make sure to bring your own soap / shower gel as what the apartment offers won’t be enough.

To be improved

While the overall stay in the place had the potential of being enjoyable, we can’t call it pleasant or satisfactory. Mainly because of how the check-in and check-out were organized. The property charges 30 EUR for check-in after 11pm (while there is no note about it on Booking), and you pay extra (50 EUR) for check-in after midnight. This was our case, and we pre-paid and confirmed this option with the property. Upon arrival, however, we had to wait at the door (in the cold of the night street) for about an hour to get in. The instructions we had been given did not work, and the contact we had could not do anything to help us remotely. We got inside only around 2am after someone arrived and let us in. Overall, the check-in process felt poorly thought-through and disorganized. And another hiccup at the check-out. We were asked to leave the apartment on time -- by 11am (a later check-out partially could have made up for the problems at the check-in, but we were denied). However, the cleaning arrived even earlier, at 10:30, while we were still getting ready. This added unnecessary stress, and we were leaving the apartment with a feeling that the place lacks proper internal communication and organization. Also, in the middle of our stay the elevator broke halfway. It was not a problem for us, but other guests could potentially consider it a serious inconvenience.
