“Nice and soothing”
Nice view from the terasse, where we prepared our breakfast to the Bay of Tamariu. The accomodation was situated in a dead-end street, so very quiet. Coffee, sugar, lemons, salt etc. readilywere available.
A lot of mosquitos at night, better bring some mosquito repellent device. The hostess told us she was looking for a mosquitoscreen for the main window.
“A delightful, quirky property close to, but also nicely away from the lovely resort of Tamariu.”
Rather unusually for this area we did not have a car, which could have made things tricky when first arriving, but Maria very kindly came and collected us from Tamariu. Maria lived right below and was really helpful with information and assistance. The studio is really a converted garage but is more spacious than it looks in the photos and nicely done. The bedroom has three windows so is very light and airy with lovely views and you can get a real breeze blowing through which was very good as whilst there is a fan there is no air con. The bed is huge and very comfy. The bathroom is very nice, with an excellent shower. Whilst the kitchen is small and really just an area inside the garage door, it has a fridge, a microwave, a griddle hot plate and plenty of utensils and we were able to make an evening meal here every night for 4 nights. It is a good 25 minute walk down to the beach, but a lovely walk, but as it was rather further than we had envisaged, we tended to only do the down and up once a day, and as we didn’t have a car we bought food for an evening meal at the small super market in Tamariu, schlepted up the hill in the twilight ( quite a climb but really rather lovely in the evening) then had dinner on the charming terrace overlooking the sea. Being away from the hustle and bustle of the town is really nice.
The walk up and down was both a pro and a con. It’s a good 20-25 mins down and 30 up which means you need to be fit and it’s very hot in August, but it is a lovely walk, makes you do some exercise, and means you are away from the crowds, the hurly burly and the noise. You do need to keep the kitchen tidy and put all food away otherwise you get ants! We just about managed without a car, but you do need your walking legs and be prepared to walk and plan for infrequent buses.
