When we arrived at the accommodation on the day of our reservation, we were met at the door by our host. So far, so good. That, unfortunately, was the only half decent part about our experience. He informed us that there had been some altercation with previous guests at the property (the nature of which he declined to specify) and that the police had been called. The host then proceeded to bar us from entering the apartment and try to hurry us away with absolutely no explanation, muttering something about Booking.com helping us find another place to stay that night. As we were leaving, a horde of police came up the stairs, which was a terrifying addition to the disappointment of having no place to stay. We had received no previous communication from either Booking or the host at that point- a fact that did not change throughout the rest of the day. We were forced to find accommodations last minute, which was both extremely expensive and inconvenient. And, just a couple minutes ago, I learned that we may not even be getting a refund for this AWFUL experience, as the host has declined to respond to Booking.com's customer service. To the host: If you are reading this, please refund me ASAP. You denied me entry to a room I had already payed for and essentially kicked me out into a foreign city with no place to stay. Booking.com did not reach out to help us find anything like you said they would.
