Exe Plaza

The hotel was mostly what we expected: clean, efficient, convenient, and near Chamartín station (a quick hop to/from the airport). We also loved who large the room was and the views of the Kio Towers. However, two things disappointed a bit: first, the "selection of chocolates" (costing €5) was literally four identical little spheres of crunchy chocolate that were each barely bigger than an m&m. It seemed more like a free sample than something you pay €5 for. Secondly, the air conditioning in the room was quite old fashioned and insufficient - we didn't sleep very well in the heat. Apart from that, we were happy with pretty much everything else. It's not really a four-star hotel (no pool, sauna, etc.), but one you are aware of that it meets the expectations quite well.

The staff and the room

For starters, we paid about 678 Euros for a suite, two nights (we wanted the couch as an extra “bed”). It was a last-minute booking, after an AirB&B host stiffed us by yanking the availability of the apartment I booked and paid for months ago. This property offered the location we sought after, right next to a Metro stop not far from the Chamartín Alta Velocidad rail station where there were lots of dining choices. The property featured helpful staff, modern room amenities and rock solid WIFI. Other than that,there’s not much else to say about our room, other that it was a larger-sized plainly styled box. Given the price we paid, a four-star rating feels almost like a gift.
