FERGUS Style Punta Arabi

The room wasn’t cleaned for 2 out of 5 days even though I put the “Please make up my room” sign on the door. The signed had, rather suspiciously, “fallen off” the door handle onto the floor and the cleaners readily ignored the room. When they did attend, they didn’t clean properly e.g. the toilet was untouched. The shower did flood the bathroom a little and towels were needed after each shower to dry the floor. The pool closed early and we weren’t allowed in it without the lifeguard. While having a drink next to the pool I saw many people turned away disappointed. Service at reception and by the pool was perfunctory. When I mentioned my room hadn’t been cleaned the receptionist said “oh no”. That was it. No apology or suggestion that she call housekeeping or indeed to offer fresh towels or water - basically no response. Quite odd.

The food was really bad, and access to the pool was limited to specific hours. Even though we paid almost €800 or more for the room, if we wanted to use the sunbeds by the pool, we had to pay an extra €50 for each time! We were already lying there by 8:30 in the morning, but the staff kept bothering us multiple times, trying to get us to leave and they were so rude, plus nobody could speak english! Only the girls at the reception. Even when we said we were willing to pay, they didn’t allow us to stay. We also asked for a room with a terrace and paid an extra €180 for 3 nights, but the terrace was extremely dirty. It had no view at all—just a wall in front of us. There were no proper chairs, only two sunbeds without any cushions. The floor was covered in bird droppings and leaves, and no one had cleaned it. Also, the room didn’t have a kettle to make coffee, and there was no coffee machine or espresso machine either. We also had to walk about five minutes just to reach the room we paid extra for—the one with the terrace. There were construction workers starting early every morning, which was very disturbing. On top of that, there was a water tank making an extremely loud and annoying noise. In short, the whole experience was very disappointing and definitely not worth the amount we paid. There was also no proper parking available for guests. The only option was to park on a narrow street about five minutes away on foot, and there was no designated parking spot. We parked there, but because the street was so narrow, our car ended up getting scratched on the side.

Had to move rooms 3 times. Each room had a terrible smell, first was damp and second was sewage. Had to sleep with the door open to get fresh air. Also found a cockroach in one room but could be due to the door open. Smell came through the AC vents. Ruined the stay because we kept moving. If this didn’t happen it would have got a much higher rate.
