“Poor communication, delayed check-in, and unpleasant smell in the apartment made this our most disappointing experience”
Unfortunately, our experience with this apartment in Barcelona was quite disappointing. When we arrived in the city, we were unable to reach the contact person directly. Instead, we kept receiving automated messages from a call center. We were told that the city tax had to be transferred to a bank account before the key could be delivered. Since I was making the transfer from a Turkish bank account via SWIFT, I explained that it wouldn’t be credited immediately and offered to pay the tax in cash or by card. The call center refused this and insisted that the key could not be handed over unless the transfer was completed. In the end, we had to ask for help from a store located under the apartment. They kindly tried to contact the responsible person. Even the Booking contact number was routed to the same call center, offering no real assistance. Eventually, we reached someone, but they told us the key would not be delivered before 4:00 PM. We had no choice but to wait. When we finally entered the apartment, we were very disappointed to find a strong smell of mold and toilet odor. Sadly, this accommodation turned out to be the worst part of our stay in Barcelona.

Property did not see any sun. The bathroom was tiny, had to manouvre around the door to get to the basin. Was old paint tins in the kitchen cupboard where utilities were stores such as chpping board etc. Found 3 kettles, 1 was manky, the 2nd blew the electrical fuses, the 3rd one worked. No plugs for the bath or kitchen sink so could not have a bath and could not wash dishes properly, which is what i advised them. From the messages received after booking the management appeared to understand English well, however, when we advised them of the plug situation we realised they did not. It was passed it onto the cleaners. When I didn't hear the 2nd day i texted again and they asked me to explain the problem more clearly as they did not understand. Eventually and after I asked if the place was managed by an AI robot, they apologised but we never received the plugs. I would not like to have had a serious issue as their reponse was slow and did not undestand.
“Good stay overall once you check in.”
Location was fantastic. It’s a 1 bedroom apartment in the center of Barcelona. The metro station is nearby, Plaça Catalunya is very close. The apartment itself was good overall, spacious, the bed was comfortable enough. The kitchen had utensils, a washer. We felt safe.
The washroom was a bit small and the shower head was in an awkward position - when you shower it’s impossible not to get some of the floor wet. The water in the sink takes forever to drain. No biggie overall, but thought I’d share. The check in process was a pain. My WhatsApp wasn’t working, and I kept messaging on booking app, but they would not respond, they ignored me all day. Eventually I got a message that Marta was waiting for me, but she had been waiting for some time already. Meanwhile Marta was messaging me on WhatsApp all along. Anyway, long story short, all the property management has to do is be more responsive on the app, or give Marta’s number in the check in instructions. She’s the one giving the key and check in can be properly arranged with her ahead of time, should there be any changes to your itinerary.
