The guesthouse and restaurant were beautiful and the family were incredibly kind and helpful. I thoroughly enjoyed my visit to such a stunning area. I loved the combination of modern and rustic design touches and enjoyed learning of the family history there. The meals were exceptional with high quality local ingredients and service was delightful.

This place is a gem. Warm welcome in a very intriguing location . Comfy beds, good bathroom, charming building. EXCEPTIONAL food in the restaurant. The set menu for folks staying in the hotel was 28€ per person and worth every penny. It was truly one of the best meals I've had in northern Spain and I think the mushroom omelette was the best omelette I've ever had in my life. The sheep's milk cuajada was incredible too! The sanctuary of Arantzazu is fascinating, a deeply spiritual version of mid century modern architecture. I would have liked to check out some of the hikes in the area too but the weather was not great.

“Perfect stay in a wonderful Spanish inn”

Everything was exceptional, from our welcome, to our room, to the meals, to the location, to the hotel building itself. The staff at this family-run hotel were so friendly and helpful, and we felt really at home in this fabulous Inn, dating from the 1500s and full of character. The evening meal in the restaurant was excellent over each of our 3 nights, testified by the large number of Spanish diners. We will be back... Just a little note to future guests: our room looked over the monastery so we could hear the bells tolling a regular tune...but happily the bells did not toll from 10pm to 8am !

“Beautiful and memorable euskal herria Basque Country inn, highest rating!”

We loved this experience completely. The Inn itself is gorgeous, with remodeled modern guest rooms- extremely comfortable. The inn keepers go above and beyond to make us feel welcome, World class hospitality. Eskerrik Asko, Miren y Ana! Meals are abundant and exceptional here, breakfasts offer everything you can imagine, local fresh delicious. We had two dinners here, one casual in the tavern and one more formal in the dining room - both were extraordinary in their own ways. Hiking from the inn is a highlight, we did two long day hikes up to mountain peaks and highly recommend pastoral hike to local Refugio with incredible views and delicious food. The Inn’s pool is fantastic early evening. Highest recommendation, and we hope we can return one day!

Recommend bringing layers. Our summer days were warm, but with cooler windy conditions up top hiking and afternoon thunderstorms. If you are not looking for a rural or hiking experience, recommend staying only one day for the Inn’s experience and meals, and Monastery and museum.
