HCC Regente

My Husband and I spent 7 nights at the HCC Regente hotel in mid-February. We contacted the hotel in advance to secure a room facing the Rambla de Catalunya with a balcony. For only an extra 15 Euros/night, we had an upgraded room with a great view. Our tour only provided standard accommodations and we were celebrating our 40th anniversary - so it was a minor splurge. The hotel surprised us with a beautiful chilled bottle of cava. The buffet breakfasts were delicious and the hotel staff were very friendly. Great location. We would absolutely stay there again!

We booked our trip through Air Canada vacations, and upgraded to have a four-star hotel. So this was the one they provided us. This is my very honest review. I’ll start with the good stuff… Location - 10/10. In the core of the city really local and close to everything you need. Service - 10/10. Check-in was super easy and the front staff were very welcoming. Just one of the servers in the bar/breakfast reception wasn’t all that friendly and would routinely watch you to make sure you weren’t doing anything wrong (which was super odd!) Cleanliness - 10/10. The hotel staff worked really hard to keep everything clean. Rooftop bar - 10/10. Love the view loved the drinks, in fact, best sangria I think I’ve had in my life! But that’s about it for what was positive. Here is what I didn’t like. Room - 3/10. The hotel itself is very very outdated. There’s no artwork on the walls or anything. It’s very dark hotel. The lighting isn’t great. But the rooms themselves? Not great at all! We were put in a standard room, and remember, this is an upgraded hotel experience with our vacation package. The standard room was dark, super ridiculously small, very outdated, super hard bed, flat pillows. And the worst part was the view! I am including the picture that was the view from our window. It looked out into a metal corridor that actually ran the sewer and toilet pipes. So every time someone flushed, you would hear it. And the smell was brutal (poop smell). There’s also no temperature control at all in the room. So if you’re hot or cold, it doesn’t matter. You cannot control the temperature. It was extremely hot in the room and the only thing they could do is give me a fan which while nice is again not normal for a four star. Not the type of toiletries you would expect either. The toiletries you get are in a paper bag. No joke! So would I recommend this hotel? No. Even with the other great things about it, the room itself, which is where you end up spending your time when you’re at a hotel, it was just not great. This is definitely not a four star!

Esmeralda the front desk staff is kind and so helpful. She always assist on oue needs. Hotel is clean and beds are comfortable

The hotel is in a great location within walking distance of plenty of restaurants, bars, shops and the various points of interest. Our room was spotlessly clean although it could do with some updating and maybe some pictures on the walls. We only requested a standard room so we had a view of a wall. I would ensure I request a room with a view if we visit again. The breakfast was great and staff are friendly and helpful. The rooftop bar is a lovely place to relax with a drink in the evening. We did not try the room service but the prices were very reasonable. The rooms are in need of soundproofing as you can hear the TVs on next door, phones going off, conversations etc. As our neighbours were unfortunately inconsiderate and noisy this did affect our sleep. I did contact reception on the last night regarding the noise and they did go and ask them to turn the noise down. Apart from the soundproofing issue this is a great value hotel.

very kind Receptionist who speak in English especially. good breakfast food. some chinese people talk loudly at 1 am but hotel took an action so we could sleep quietly

Our stay was impressive. Location was ideal and the view from the rooftop bar were spectacular. The staff was amazing. They were accommodating, friendly, professional, and knowledgeable. Will stay again!!!
