Heredad de Unanue

We had already spent 7 fantastic days in the Basque country in Bilbao and Logrono and the 4 nights we had booked in the hotel were the icing on the cake. Everything was perfect. The hotel is amazing, the owners and staff are so helpful and lovely. We were lucky to arrive on a day the chef was in, so we were able to experience the tasting menu which was just amazing and definitely as good as a Michelin starred restaurant without the price tag. The location of the hotel was beautiful and we appreciated being just outside of San Sebastian but with the advantage of being able to easily get the local bus into the town which was both cost efficient and easy. We did a quick trip over to Biarritz and again used public transport as we didn't want to take our hire car across the Border. Having breakfast out on the terrace was lovely and the quality of the food was outstanding. The bedroom was lovely and we appreciated the unlimited access to water, teas and coffee. We were given a small memento at the end of our stay which was appreciated. We have stayed in many hotels over the years and this is definitely one of our favourites.

We"ve stayed with our 2 big daughters in a family room. We have enjoyed the place immensely, the location in lush greenery and their apple planation. Very unique house, historical and designed in repect. An oasis just outside of San Sebastian city. You can feel and see it's a family run business. We heard about the intruiging story of the place that was for years the family's farm house . Their place is very much connected to agriculture and family heritage, alot of love is put into it. High Standards of facilities, in our room included. Great breakfast, tasty and fresh! Everything in the best taste. Highly reccomended

We stayed at Heredad de Unanue as a family of six, including two young children, and from the moment we arrived, we were made to feel so welcome. The team here are incredibly kind, caring, and accommodating —-nothing was ever too much trouble. The whole environment is peaceful and relaxing, and it genuinely feels like a home away from home. One of the highlights of our stay was the tasting menu by Xaxa. It was everything you would expect from a Michelin-starred chef - creative, beautifully balanced, and full of flavour - but served in a wonderfully relaxed, no-frills setting just for hotel guests. At first, we worried the children might not eat it, but Xaxa went above and beyond, creating a special dish just for them - fresh pasta with a beautiful homemade tomato sauce and a couple of croquettes. They loved every bite, which made the evening even more enjoyable for us. Breakfast each morning was delicious, with plenty of choice, and our bedrooms were spotlessly clean and very comfortable. The hotel’s location is ideal too - just three stops on the train (at the bottom of the road) to San Sebastián’s old town, making it perfect for exploring while still enjoying a peaceful retreat. This is such a special place, especially for families. Thank you, from our family to yours, for helping us make such precious memories. We would highly recommend Heredad de Unanue to anyone visiting the area.

Beautiful location with warm, welcoming hosts. The building has been tastefully renovated, retaining its charm. The terrace was a bonus, overlooking the farmland and a great place to enjoy a glass of wine. Breakfast served using local produce.

We were warmly welcomed into a beautiful conversion of a family home. Very high specification of a unique property.
