“Recomeded”
My stay at Hesperia was quiet and enjoyable. The room was clean, and the hospitality from Miss Emerald and all the staff in general was excellent.
“Unethical Business Practices – Illegal Credit Card Charges?”
I am a Travel Agent and booked two couples to stay at this property after their cruise (one night was booked through the cruise line and two extra nights were booked directly through the hotel’s website). I thought since Princess Cruises uses this property, it must be reputable, and I could confidently book my clients to stay additional nights here. Wrong. Problem #1: I booked a “non-refundable, pre-paid” rate. The payment terms on the website clearly state: “Prepayment required – Online secure payment.” The confirmation I received also clearly states: “Prepayment required of 100%.” I assumed their credit cards were charged when the reservations were made. I’m not sure what other interpretation there could be from those statements. As it turns out, their cards were not charged. Problem #2: One of the couples encountered an issue with their credit card while on their cruise and the card was shut down. When they all arrived at the hotel, they were told that they needed to pay. Obviously, there was confusion because they thought they had already paid. The hotel proceeded to email me, stating that this couple’s card declined and that I needed to provide a new card via a link that was supposedly in the email. There was no link. The hotel staff then allowed my clients to leave with a pending balance on their account. After arriving home, the other couple contacted me and said that the hotel had charged them twice! When I asked the hotel about it, they admitted to me, IN WRITING, that they took it upon themselves to charge the balance that the couple with the declined card still had pending. WHAT?! This is flat out wrong. To make matters worse, after I responded to the hotel’s email that admitted what they did, explaining how wrong it was of them to do this, there has been no further communication from the hotel. I emailed them daily for a week and no one bothered to get back to me. My clients with the second charge reported it to their credit card company as fraudulent and the charge has since been removed, but this whole situation still doesn’t sit right with me. The hotel needs to be held accountable for their unethical business practice.
“Street party noise goes all night!”
We live across the street from a subway station in Toronto so we are accustomed to noise, but it doesn’t compare to the sound of people partying all night on the street beside our hotel. Do the bars stay open all night? We just arrived yesterday. At $500/night I wouldn’t recommend staying here.
“Bathroom and bedroom are basically the same room”
I stayed at the Hesperia Barcelona Presidente with my girlfriend and unfortunately our experience was negatively affected by the room’s bathroom layout. The bathroom is not separated from the bedroom: the sink is positioned right at the entrance, while the shower and toilet are only enclosed by almost transparent glass doors. From inside the room and even from the bed, it is possible to see the person in the shower or using the toilet. For a 4-star hotel, this solution is completely inadequate and removes any sense of privacy. When we booked through Booking.com, the photos did not make this clear at all. We expected a traditional, private bathroom as one would reasonably assume in a hotel of this category. After reading reviews online, we realized other guests have also raised the same concern, which confirms this is not an isolated issue. The hotel’s location and check-in were fine, but the bathroom design was a serious disappointment and really affected our stay. I hope management takes this feedback seriously and addresses it, or at least ensures that future guests are fully aware of the unusual setup before booking.
“Best Complimentary Breakfast and Service”
Javier and Jose Luis made my family and feel like VIP guest. So genuinely nice and thoughtful in every interaction. Rooms were spacious, beds were comfortable, and it was a great location.
“Perfect Stay in the Heart of Barcelona”
The staff were exceptionally friendly and always went the extra mile to help. Breakfast was absolutely delicious, and the room was excellent. The location, right in the heart of Barcelona, couldn’t have been better.
