Hesperia Murcia Centro

Great location near to both shopping and sights. Massive bed (not just a small double as in many places). I often have difficulty sleeping in hotel beds but this was one of the comfiest I have ever slept in. Air con worked well. Soundproofing seemed good internally (did not hear other rooms) but traffic sound from the street was quite loud. This didn’t bother me as I wear earplugs anyway.

We are a family of four !my husband,I and two little children The boy arrived to Murcia!and stayed sphera around 2 weeks !I arrived with the little girl after !!as we were settling down in Spain ,,for first time !we came with expensive thing and many bags!upon my arrival next day !!we left to sign the contract of having our apartment!!next the hotel !!I was shocked to find a cleaner in the room !while I put the no disturb sign !!I couldn’t figure out !!that she is a thief!I discovered only she emptying my morrocan bath soap !!which I did not even use !!i told them in the reception and honestly they managed to get me another bottle very soon❤️it was till we moved and settled in few days after then I discovered she opened the jewelry case and stole a beautiful necklace from Turkey and other Items!!she is there and I know exactly which one !! The hotels claim no responsibility of stolen items in Spain !! I just want to warn all of you!!never bring a suitcase with out a lock !!some of these cleaners are thieves.

We spent Christmas in Murcia city and this spotlessly clean and comfortable hotel was a highlight. We paid for an upgrade to a Junior Suite - so spacious, clean, modern and well equipped although we only had two bottles of water and it was not replenished as a previous reviewer said their's was. It is on a side street and we found it quiet but it's a city so don't expect a view. Lots of shops, cafes, bars nearby and easy walkable distance to everything Murcia city has to offer. We really enjoyed the breakfast which was so well looked after by a lovely lady. We were amazed to see such a selection of milks which was appreciated by us as we have to have lactose free milk. Lorena on reception helped us with a problem so cheerfully - thank you to her. Thank you also for the gift bag of chocolates on Christmas morning; it is now on our tree at home.

The hotel is within five minutes from most of Murcia’s sights, including the cathedral, the town hall, the Malecon and the Veronicas market. The room wasn’t too big and definitely modestly decorated but the bed was very comfortable and everything spotlessly clean. There is a small gym on the mezzanine level, there aren’t too many machines but those are all in good condition and towels are also provided. Really liked the tortilla at the breakfast buffet.

The Hesperia has a very good city centre location just off Gran Vía del Escultor Francisco Salzillo and a 2- 3 minute walk from the Cathedral. The shared spaces are fresh and modern and our room was similarly modern and in good clean condition. While the room wasn't generously sized it was very adequate with tea/coffee facilities, a (noisy) fridge and safe. The toilet/shower room was very generous and in good order. We did have breakfast in the hotel on a couple of days and that also was very nice with a decent buffet selection of the usual hot and cold items. As mentioned the hotel is located right within the busy old town area of the city and perfect as a base to walk to all the Murcia attractions. This however did present an issue as either the hotel in general or our room was one of the worst sound insulated I've ever stayed in. General noise from adjacent rooms was fairly obvious but noise from the street was terrible. Vehicles on Gran Via, activity like the bin/recycling point right outside the hotel being emptied (regularly and always during the wee hours) and even conversations in the street sounded like they were in the room. Which led to less than restful nights and made earplugs a must. While the staff were friendly I was a little surprised at the friendly but flat "no" when I asked for a recommendation or even a local taxi number to arrange our return to the airport. Never bumped into that in any hotel I've stayed in previously. While we enjoyed Our Murcia trip I would not return to the Hesperia as it while it is good in many ways it did not make for a relaxing stay.
