Lovely staff, and a decent location, with some lovely coffee shops and restaurants nearby. close to bus stop.

A lot of this is probably my fault: I thought that I had booked a double bedded room. Got 2 singles made up separately and pushed together - I hate that. The Hostel turned out to be the wrong side of the city, as after booking, I found the event we were going to was in UPNA, not the other University which is nearby. My reading to the description, did not meet reality. I should have scrolled down through all the comments prior to booking, which probably would have changed my mind. In the end we just had to move to new hotel, and take the hit for the cost.

I wouldn't recommend this place to anyone if you don’t want to lose your health and money. Our room didn’t meet even the minimum standards of any accommodation. It was simply impossible to air it out in any way! Note that in all the photos the windows are closed (and the blinds are down) because the windows face a dreadful airshaft filled with laundry and outdoor AC units covered in a thick layer of dust. The air conditioner in the room also won’t provide fresh air, as it ONLY works for heating or cooling, with no ventilation mode, and it was impossible to fix. The room was extremely stuffy (and this wasn’t even during a heatwave in the city), it strongly smelled of cleaning chemicals, and I’m allergic to mold, so I constantly had a stuffy nose there. The next day, I felt significantly worse – my throat started hurting, and my eyes were irritated. We had booked and paid for a full week here, but we could barely stay one sleepless night. When we asked for a refund and to check out the next day, the management refused and offered to change the room a day later, which would mean another sleepless night for us. As can be seen from the photos, all the rooms (except the expensive family ones) have the same ventilation issue. We had to spend unplanned money and book accommodation elsewhere, because staying there any longer was simply dangerous to my health. The hostel refused to refund our money, despite booking.com's support (which took our side after reviewing the evidence). The hostel’s behavior is completely unacceptable, and the state of the rooms does not meet even the most basic standards, posing a threat to the health and well-being of guests. The information about the rooms in the listing is deliberately misleading. I do not recommend this place to anyone. For this kind of money, you can find good and safe accommodation. Protect your health and your money — stay away from Hostal Acella.
