hostal Decerca Prádena

WE were travelling for four weeks and on arrival here having parked a few minutes walk away I had forgotten about the automated check in. Jumping out of the car with just my small rucksack containing ID and such like and leaving my partner with the car I arrived at the entrance. As the day was bitterly cold I found it a struggle to manoeuvre the passports that needed to be scanned, info that required inputting for two persons. I have a tremor which made things worse. In side the property I could hear people who could obviously hear me struggling. When finally having completed the access requirements and opening the door I found two gentlemen connected to the hotel seated beside a warm fire. It was frustrating to think that they could have offered assistance to someone just outside obviously struggling. The key to the room was not numbered but had a name only. They did explain that the name on the key matched a name of the room. Without their assistance I would have had to search the property for the room. I mention all off this so that others are prepared and do not make the same mistake as myself.

Considering the price there's nothing to dislike in my opinion.

The bathroom had no plugs in the sink or the bath. The breakfast was slow and disorganised and wasn't available till 09.00am. Trying to work the self checking was not the best, but after making phone calls we were able to sort out.

We booked this to break our car journey. Our ferry was cancelled and we contacted the hostal immediately to change dates. We heard nothing back. We asked for some of our money back. Still waiting for an answer

Maybe the late breakfast but not really a dislike

The check-in system is a nightmare. It is unwelcoming, irritating, and also doesn't allow us to ask questions about the area, restaurant, parking ..... a real shame as the locals are so friendly. For breakfast, the food quality is poor.
