Hostal El Mirador

I could not get a decent telephone signal in the room (it had dropped down to 3G and had a very low data rate), so I reluctantly used the Wi-Fi instead (luckily with a password so assumedly mostly secure), and that was even slower at times, even with full bars (so it was probably the same for all rooms)! Well, they alternated being the most atrocious, although admittedly some of the time one or the other was actually usable for a while. If you are here to get away from the Internet, great, but for me it was disqualifying. The bed had a thick mattress that provided very little support. For me it was merely annoying, but if you have back issues you might want to reconsider staying here or inquire about the current situation. When leaving, I found the front door locked by key. If I had been fleeing a fire and had forgotten my own key, I would have had one hell of a travel story to tell at heaven's gate! Is this even legal in a commercial hotel, a front door that any guest can lock by key (it would be even worse if that is not who did it)? So I had to use my own key to unlock, drop it off at the reception desk, and then exit normally, because the front door was in fact only opening from the inside and so there was no reason to lock by key. There might have been another little thing, but these stand out.

The bed was not for my liking.

Noise. Decrepit furnishings. Poor lighting. Noise by far the worst thing: noise from reception, people coming late and talking, bathroom noise, door closing noise, door locking and unlocking noise. Late into the night. Very hard to sleep.

Very basic amenties which could be easily improved. A/c didn't work to warm up the room which is needed in February.

The room was functional but it was cold… heating didn’t work which made the stay very uncomfortable!
