“Great stay”
Everything good: room bathroom location👍🏻 Friendly people at reception. Room had tv which is nice too. Communication via whatsapp is great
“A tiny windowless room didn't work for me”
I don't mind a small room (8m2) I don't mind having shared bathrooms However, not having a window of any kind is a big issue! This was not declared on the booking site, and to call it claustrophobic would be a major understatement. If you are going to stay here then I suggest checking before booking. On the positive side, it was cheap, the bathrooms were kept clean, it was a good central location, and the WiFi worked well.
“Hostal La Casa de La Plaza is a charming and simple place, perfect for travelers who want to stay right in the center of Madrid. The location is unbeatable, just next to Plaza de San Miguel and a short walk to Plaza Mayor and Puerta del Sol. The room was clean and comfortable, with a lovely traditional feel. The staff were polite and check-in was easy. It's a great budget-friendly option with an authentic local vibe. I would definitely return!”

“Nice location If you dont mind about not sleeping”
Nice location, kind workers
The room was so hot and I had no window or air conditioner , I had to have the fan turn on all time I was in the room and it was so loud you could hear it from the outside, the rooms is in a hallway with more rooms and you could hear everytime someone opened their door or their talking, i couldnt sleep. The worst part is that people dont respect silent hours, not even stopping making sound after 00:00 and the worst part is that with the paper thin walls you could hear everything.
“Fantastic location and good value for money.”
The best thing about Hostal La Casa de La Plaza is easily the location and therefore the value for money. I knew going into this that it wasn't going to be the fanciest place, but it was relatively cheap considering I stayed at the beginning of summer. The front door is literally a stone's throw from the Mercado de San Miguel, a 2-3 minute walk from Plaza Mayor and seemingly a 15 minute walk from every major attraction in Madrid. Surrounded by restaurants and bars as well as being next door to a supermarket which was great for stocking up on supplies at the beginning of each day (and cheap beers at the end of the day!). I was also pleasantly surprised by the bathroom facilities. They're not flashy by any means, but I've seen far worse in places like this.
I stayed at this place twice - once at the beginning of my trip to Spain and once on my last night before flying home. Depending on which room you get, your experience may differ. My first room was very small with no window and so no natural light. It was a bit claustrophobic but I hardly spent any time there besides sleeping. The second time I stayed I had a room facing the street, which was much larger and had a balcony overlooking the Mercado. This was significantly nicer, so I guess it comes down to luck of the draw! Request a balcony room if you can. Also, neither room had air conditioning which I imagine would be quite tough in July and August, but both had powerful pedestal fans which kept me cool enough to sleep comfortably for the night.
