“Clean but rudimentary hostel with VERY slow arrival shuttle and gross lack of courtesy at front desk”

Shuttle from airport to hotel, in our case, was terrible. It wasn't just the long delay, nor that after picking us up, the driver went to a different airport to get someone else. It was really the very surprising rudeness and contempt from the hotel front desk guy. (and we speak Spanish very well). First phone call for the shuttle, no answer. 2nd call: he answered, barked Si? and hung up. 3rd phone call, he said wait. 25 minutes later, we called to check - he hung up 2x. Told us it could be an hour. We said we'd just take a TAXI - then he send 5 minutes, which meant 10. Plus 25 minutes driving to a place just 2 km away. Upon arrival, the guy was a bit less abrasive in person, but still obviously saw no cause to show basic courtesy on any level. We are not new to Spain, we know normal etiquette. The room had space for the double bed, unwanted single extra bed, and a small desk - NOTHING else, so you squeeze through to the bathroom, which was OK and had hot water.

To be improved

Completely, 180-degree different attitude on the part of front desk guy and the afternoon shuttle driver -- that would help. They excuse the long delay by saying, "It's a private service we don't control" but they have 3 vans painted with their hotel name and no other label, so that seemed false. The driver in the morning was okay - just okay. The afternoon guy made no effort to help with luggage, including putting it in or removing it. But mainly the front desk guy, hanging up on us multiple times when we simply asked for a time estimation so we could decide on paying 15 euros for a taxi. Don't choose this place for the arrival shuttle or the vibes!

“Served our needs very well indeed!”

The best

A very good, small hotel in a suburban area close to the airport. Nice, quiet area. Very good staff. Shuttle bus to/from airport. Very clean and functional. Suitable and designed for people coming from and going to the airport (MAD). Some aircrew stay there. GREAT showers!

To be improved

1) Challenging to find restaurants open, serving food, within walking distance on a Sunday afternoon (before 8pm). The grocery store in the mall nearby, saved our stomachs though! Of course, this has nothing to do with the hotel at all. 2) Very dim lighting in the bathroom - that's my only beef! (rm. 212)
