“I liked the hospitality of the staff, they are very friendly and willing to help. The accommodation includes a restaurant and an excellent, hearty Pilogram dinner. Good, tidy accommodation.”

“Good to Pilgrims, warm place.”
Thank to all the staff, especially to Sonia on our arrival. We were on our Camino de Santiago first day on our very first time experience. We started on the San Fermín time; so, find accommodation on the towns around was difficult those days. Following the wise advise of the lady at the Hotel in St.Jean du Pied du Port, we looked for available hotels in Roncesvalles or nearby. Take note Pilgrims hostels and hotels were fully booked or too expensive. So we found a room in Haizea at an affordable price and with great reviews. I noticed it was a little bit out of town (used to see distances reachable by car) we booked almost the last room. As beginners walkers/pilgrims, we never thought how difficult could be extra distances after a whole day walking. To shorten this story, let's say we talked for more than 12 hrs that day and 38 kms (23.6 miles). We arrived exhausted to Roncesvalles, we took some time at the Monastery and then, they told us we still needed to walk 6km (3 miles) to get to Espinal, to Haizea. These last distance became the most hard challenge of that journey. We ran out of water, our legs, feet and the whole body was aching and with each step our strength was fading at high speed. All this introduction is to give you an idea Ion the exhaustion we carried at the moment that we finally reached the Hostel. It was 9:30 pm. They received us with a smile. They served my husband the most delicious beer ever and for my a super cold coke. The kitchen was about to close (besides all workers were expecting to leave at 10:00 sharp , heading to San Fermin. Nevertheless, Sonia served us dinner, offered us all the best, she did not mind stayed a little bit longer, took away the stress and even told us to go to bed and sleep until late if we needed to. That was an amazing dinner, one of the best. We took an amazing warm shower & slept fantastic.. In the morning, we did laundry and took a delicious Breakfast.

“Good location and very good pilgrim dinner. Nice common space and terrace. · Cons: The lady receptionist seemed very annoyed that there are guests.”

The lady receptionist seemed very annoyed that there are guests.
“A place to sleep and shower, that’s it.”
The dinner was pleasant due to the other pilgrims. The showers offer more room than most.
The focus is the bar and not the albergue or pilgrims. Was not the Camino focused experience I’d been having at other albergues and hostels. The staff seemed rushed and bothered to get us checked in. No breakfast, no one to help with checking out, etc.
