Verified reviews from real guests who have already stayed here.
Consistently praised for its excellent location with easy access to city amenities.
Overall positive mentions of helpful staff, but with a note of dissatisfaction during a specific episode.
Not explicitly mentioned, so standard quality for this hotel tier.
Some concerns were raised regarding the number of pillows and room facilities.
Mixed feelings; some enjoyed their stay despite several complaints.
Reviews indicated that the price did not align with the quality of the accommodations.
“Appears that the owner is taking advantage of unassuming tourists and the location this place is in.”
The location is ONLY thing this accommodation has going for it. That said, you have plenty of options in the Gothic quarter.
Horrible. Very overpriced… Regret staying here. **Be aware there is currently very loud construction going on at the bottom of the accommodation** Firstly, The noise from the 1) outside ie. restaurants 2) neighbouring rooms, there was no sound proofing 3) people walking and opening their doors just outside our room was loud enough to wake you up 4) the aircon rattling, was insanely frustrating. We got about 1-4 hrs sleep per night. TERRIBLE. Secondarily, the housekeeping was bad. Of the 5 nights we were there, we had to go out of our way 3 times to tell the cleaner or manager that we didn’t have our towels exchanged or we didn’t get any at all as they just took our dirty ones! Thirdly, the toilet/shower is tiny. I am not overweight and I had to walk into the shower sideways to fit in. The bedroom was so small we had to step over our suitcases every time we wanted to move around as there was such little space.
“DO NOT STAY, AVOID AT ALL COSTS”
The location
AVOID AVOID AVOID! DO NOT STAY AT THIS PROPERTY! During our stay we experienced a power outage which meant we had no electricity or air conditioning during a heat wave. After a horrible night trying to sleep we spoke to the host who was apologetic and assured us that we would receive a refund for the previous night and for the next three nights of our stay (as well as city tax). He could not guarantee when the electricity would be fixed so he said even if we move to a different hotel we would still be refunded. The host also confirmed our refunds via text messages on WhatsApp. However, after a couple of days the host began ignoring our messages and we were doubting whether he was going to refund us like he said. On our final day before we left the country we called the WhatsApp number, to further enquire when we would receive the refund we were promised, to which the host was rude and belittling, insulting our age and country and insisted that we just needed to be patient. We were in constant communication with booking.com and have sent them photos, screenshots and audio recordings of the host telling us he will give us our refund. Booking.com have also informed us that they have tried emailing and phoning the host to accept our refund, but have received zero response back. They have told us that there is nothing else they can do until the host accepts their email. Furthermore, he also hasn’t refunded us for the city tax we paid and at our new hotel we had to pay city tax again, meaning the host has kept four days worth of city tax for two people to himself. We also noticed that after we left hostel sol y k our room was being rented out to new customers, which means he is making further profit whilst he has kept hundreds of pounds of our money. We are now left angry and upset at the extra expense paid on our holiday through no fault of our own, as booking.com cannot contact the owners at all and they are now ignoring our attempts to contact them as well.
“Excellent location right in the middle of La rambla, very nearby El Born region where a lot of great bars and museums are, and also nearby the beach! We did it all by walking · Cons: The room was slightly small and expensive for what it was compared to other countries we visited on the trip, however Barcelona seemed to be more expensive overall anyway”

“Great location”
I like that the location was close to so many wonderful places. Restaurants, attractions, the night life around the hotel was just great
I didn't like that the cleaners only come when you are checking out.
“Perfect”
“Spoilt our stay and mood in Barcelona. Think twice before booking it.”
Just look at the attached photos and you will get the picture... The shower tub floor paint was off and it was bare concrete. The drain was blocked and the water outflowed onto the bathroom floor and then into the hall way so we had to mop it all up with towels. The two windows opened onto the very dump and moulded walls, it all felt very unhealthy. In the morning we demanded to be moved to a different room and they did. Then later that evening they said that this room was only available until the next morning and they offered to move us to a B&B in a completely different part of town. We were not happy at all but agreed because they promised to let us in to the B&B straight away, so we would still have almost full day to enjoy Barcelona. But then they said that the new place could only be available from 1pm. We just had enough and decided to leave this place and move to a nice, clean and friendly hotel just up the street - Catalonia Avinyo, with the price of 110 Euros per night vs. the 230 Euros that Hostal Sol y K charged us for that wreck of a room and the following bad experience.
