“Great Stay!”
For the first time I stayed in a hostal, I was a little afraid of what I would find, but I had an excellent experience. Clean and quiet room, in an excellent location, 50 meters from the metro, good bathroom, we arrived 3 hours before the scheduled check-in time, and they promptly gave us a place to put our bags until we returned for check-in. We recommend HostalIn and we will certainly return
“Room for improvement”
Yes, the location is convenient. Yes, this hostel has a nice interior for the price. The rooms are modern and minimalist. But here's the thing: minimalism has been taken a step too far here. There's absolutely none of those basics you're expecting. No glasses or cups for having a drink or brushing your teeth, no fridge, no kettle, not even a single chair or a hook for outerwear. Plus a word of warning: the walls are literally paper thin. I could have easily taken part of a conversation the guests in the neighboring room were having, heard every time the doorbell rang (which was at all hours), people coming and going.. I'm not a light sleeper and even had some earplugs on but I still kept jolting out of sleep. Even though the style and location of this place are charming, not being able to even sleep is a reason enough to not return.
“You won't want certain rooms if you're a light sleeper!”
For the price the hostel is functional, clean and in a great location. The private room has a very good shower and a large bed and was pretty clean. The hairdryer didn't work however and looked a little dangerous. Location great, literally opposite the metro with good links to Atocha and central stations. Few decent bars and eateries. Although I only stayed 2 nights and can cope with noise the issue with having a room (number 8) so close the front desk was that you had no chance of getting decent sleep. If it's not the door being rung from the street it's people coming back (and of course, not their fault) but the door has a very loud noise that accompanies you entering. The front desk radio also seemed to be on until midnight and the communal bathroom was next to my room and the walls seemed to be thin enough to hear everything! This also meant the light outside my room was constantly on. It's a compact building so guess there's not much you can do but would put me off returning.
“Clean and well located”
Hostalin is a good hostal, we got a room with private bathroom, and it was very clean and new! It’s very close to the metro Antón Martín (get off by the Magdalena door), and it’s next to a street with a lot os restaurants and services. We didn’t need to use the subway that much because it’s well located (10 min from Museo del Prado or Plaza del Sol). The only negative point is that is very noisy, we could hear everything that was happening in the front door, and the shared bathroom always keps full. The crew us very polite and caring, I recommend it!
“Superbly located budget stay”
The hostel is located close to Anton Martin station (2-3 minute walk; this station does not have escalators). Sol station has escalators, though it's quite far. There is a lift in the hostel, and we got a room with a balcony. You can see Anton Martin station's exit from the balcony. The room is clean and perfect for a couple without much luggage. The hair dryer in the room short circuited causing power outage in the whole hostel; they took a few hours to get it fixed. The guy at the reception was kind to give us a complimentary bottle of wine and a box of chocolates.
“Brand new in November 2017”
I stayed there during their first week i think and had workers fixing stuff, including painting the walls in the corridors etc, but I'm very happy anyway. Its all brand new and fresh and although some details needs to be taken care of, the guy running it is extremely helpful and positive. I'll come back. The Atocha location is also great for La Reina Sofia as well as the Prado.
