“Worst hostel experience, despite Central Location”
The only redeeming feature of this hostel is its excellent location — convenient for shops, restaurants, transportation, and especially for viewing events like La Bajada de La Virgen de las Nieves from the terrace. Unfortunately, everything else about my stay was a major disappointment.
The sleeping cubicles were poorly designed. USB chargers didn’t work, and there was no way to lock the cubicles — a serious security and privacy concern. As the only woman on my floor during the first few nights, I felt especially uncomfortable and unsafe. Ongoing painting and maintenance work made things even worse. Paint was being applied inside the shower and toilet areas while guests were using them. I got paint on my clothes and skin while trying to shower — an extremely unpleasant and inappropriate situation. Several other guests shared similar complaints and were equally shocked by the state of the facilities. The bathrooms were consistently wet due to the poor shower design, and hot water was unreliable. My sheets were dirty upon arrival, and there was no staff member regularly on site to raise these concerns with — a serious flaw in hostel management. When I arrived, I thought there would be someone at reception to greet me, but I had to call and wait for someone to let me in. The final straw was on the day I checked out. I had arranged to leave my luggage and was told I could retrieve it later by calling. Despite messaging them in the morning via Booking.com, I received no response. I waited outside for 20–30 minutes, panicked that I would miss my ferry, with calls going straight to voicemail. By chance, a relative of the owner walked by and helped me reach someone. However, I was mocked for being “desesperada” about retrieving my bags — a humiliating and deeply unprofessional moment. I had to pay for a taxi to ensure I didn’t miss my ferry. This was my worst hostel experiences I’ve had. I would strongly advise against staying here.
“Disappointing”
Location
Capsule didn’t lock, small, and outdated. Cannot charge phone inside capsule
“Something diffrent, ok for the price”
- the capsuls are something diffrent and kind of adventure - price ok - hostel gets cleaned every day - the free breakfast was good
- for the double capsule with 2 people you still get only one locker for luggage. And the locker is not bigger as a single capsule one. There should be 2 lockers for a double capsule - capsules are not lockable - USB port of 2 was not working. Lucky. In other capsules both ports were not working - a bit of street noise - community areas are ok but not really nice - in the time we were there, there was no really hostel life. Everyone just did their own business
“Good”
good location pretty clean common area big lockers
on my first stay I had dirty bedsheets on the second stay it was clean. The the facilities itself were really clean and got cleaned every day but the walls where quite nasty and need a repaint. There was regular cleaning stuff around in the mornings cleaning the common area. No kitchen to cook stuff only microwave. In the capsules you can hear everything what is happening outside, they don't take the noise down so bring ear plugs
“Central capsule hotel in a nice old house, ok for the price”
The hostel is located in the city center, just where the bus 500 from the airport stops (stop la recova) in front of the city market. Nice old house with high ceilings, welcoming lady super nice, capsule as expected (although it has no socket or usb-c plug, only 2 old usb ones - no possibility to charge apple devices unless u still have good old usb cables - I did not). Shower area ok, bit messy with people, cleaning level medium. Locker big enough. Breakfast amenities, biscuits, bread, butter & jam, muesli stuff, and a coffee shop around the corner, plus Spar (the German supermarket, spar means save) in front. O’Daly street and all good things very close. Altogether good for the price.
The capsule cannot be closed. USB old, charge in the capsule not possible with usb-c cable
“Passable”
Could be more clean.
