“Beautiful hotel in a remote location.”

Beautiful location. Great view from our room. The room had four balconies that looked out to the forest, Breakfast was delicious. Very comfortable room with soft beds.

To be improved

My only complaint is regarding noise. Our room was directly above the parking area where there are garbage cans, and the garbage pickup was at 5am and very noisy. Although we loved the room and the view, I think next time I would want a different room maybe on the other side of the hotel.

“A warm stay in a functioning UNESCO heritage graded functioning monastery.”

The best

Peaceful location and a very alluring place. A UNESCO World Heritage site that lives up to its reputation. Excellent walks in the neighborhood forest. Spacious rooms and a functioning cafeteria. Very friendly staff and an excellent tour of the Yuso monastery. Worth every penny. This is a hidden gem of the Rioja region and though its a bit off the regular trails ~ its worth a visit to get a glimpse of the history of Spain. Wish we could have stayed at least a night longer and discovered the wine trails. Staying next door to monks is a super offbeat experience

To be improved

The building needs some repairs, but the hospitality makes up for it. The restaurant can do with an upgrade, given that it's the only one within premises for some distance.

“Could be so good , but is actually a huge dissapointment .”

The location and of course the monastery were amazing and worth the trip , however the hotel needs a great deal of management . The rooms are very basic without the simplest of facilities . One expects that to some extent in a former monastery , but this is a bit extreme for the price and star rating . The hotel is not clean we had to demand the cleaning of carpets outside our room on arrival and the garden area is tatty , dirty and under furnished for the number of guests . The bar area is similarly a bit depressing . The only upside is the restaurant which was good if a bit overpriced . Breakfast was good .

Everything ! in particular the attitude of staff which was awful . Completely unhelpful and surly . We asked about the visit to the monastery and were told it was at 10 am . However it was at 10.30 and you are required to buy tickets along with the general public at the ticket office . None of that info was given . This place could be fantastic , but desperately needs new management and cleaners . The visit to the monastery was wonderful .

“Quiet, pleasant, interesting place to stay.”

The best

Enjoyed the monastery and the area. The room was fine, with a great view of the hillside behind the monastery. Delicious local wine at dinner, carrying the Monastery's own label (it come from a vineyard and winemaker 6 kms away. At night, great peace and quiet!

Nice to be in a historical place surrounded by a beautiful landscape. The bedroom is big, the bed and linen are comfortable, and the staff is very nice and helpful.

To be improved

Breakfast is a little disappointing, not so tasty, but the staff is very nice.
