“Absolutely Perfectly located hotel with stunning views of the castle and marina. Decent breakfast and hard working staff”
Perfectly located hotel in centre of Alicante.
“Brilliant holiday”
Lovely hotel, very clean and inviting. We had room 2501 and the room was spacious and had everything we needed for our short holiday. The views, oh my goodness they were properly breathtaking over the marina and castle. Staff were so polite. It was a fabulous short break, thank you
“Great stay”
Fabulous location, room was ready when we arrived in the morning. Reception staff very friendly. Our room was small but had a kettle, minibar, toiletries etc. We were half board, breakfast selection was very good and tables always available. Gluten free corner which suited as I am coeliac. Staff were very attentive towards my dietary needs and the chef was on hand every night to discuss my options. Dinner was deliciously cooked but limited options for main course, luckily we eat most meat, fish and veg. Lovely selection of salad, cold meats, desserts, fruits, tea/coffee. We would have liked the option to have drinks with our dinner but when we asked on the first night we were told only water but we did notice other people drinking wine. The rooftop bar is good but very small so gets busy. À la carte restaurant beside rooftop bar but not for use by half board guests unless you pay. The hotel does not have any outdoor space to sit but plenty of options close by like beach, marina etc.
“3 Nights stay”
I chose the Melia affiliated hotel because I stayed in a Melia hotel in Amsterdam a couple of years ago and I was impressed by it. The location was very good and I prefer it to the other Melia hotels nearby, due to the closeness to the restaurants etc.. I chose a superior room with a sea view (305) Great view. The bathroom was a bit cramp wine sitting down. Breakfast was good and the staff were very helpful.
“Great stay at Gran Sol, Alicante”

“Set Your Expectations”
In it’s favour: The excellent location On 15th floor. Stunning view over Marina Breakfast good, but get there early. Gets full after 9am and options become limited Staff seem friendly Housekeeping good Nice to see a bidet in the bathroom Toiletries - nothing special. Not in it’s favour: Probably the most tired looking room I’ve stayed in - in years (and we travel a lot) Dated furniture and peeling paint Poor quality bedding Noisy. Thin walls and we were by one of only two lifts that serve 22 floors for the entire building. The smell - yes. The odour of sewage was there our entire trip. It was deeply unpleasant. We had to keep the room balcony door open to disperse it. A lot of people were complaining about it and demanding room changes but it appears the smell permeates every floor. We are Melia frequent returners and reward card holders. This hotel does NOT reflect the Melia brand and I’m surprised to see the affiliation. It claims as four star. It is not. It’s two star. It’s basic. To be fair, we didn’t pay a huge amount of money for three nights. Disappointing to see that the management have a policy of not responding to TA reviews which probably says a lot. This is a weekend break for us. We won’t be returning. We viewed it as just ‘a roof over our head’ and no more. If you want decent ambience, try somewhere else.
