The location is perfect, being close to the beach and town center.
Staff were consistently praised for being welcoming and professional.
Exceeded expectations with overall satisfaction summarized positively.
Rooms were spacious and had great views, but a shower issue mentioned lowered its score.
Great service and overall value, but some food quality comments were noted.
The rooms were described as spotless, indicating good cleanliness.
“Average but mainly due to room allocation”
Nice hotel relatively close to the beach. However not great for people with walking disability. Positioned on a hill with either approximately 200 steps or a steep hill to negotiate. Breakfast was good but dinner disappointing. One main bug bear was the location of our room. We were allocated a room below reception. The corridor was dark and dingy, not appealing at all. The room itself was large and clean, no balcony and due to the fact that you looked out on scrub land, you were unable to leave the window open or you were inundated with bugs. Request an upgrade if allocated these rooms. Otherwise our friends room on the 6th floor was good. We found some of the reception staff difficult to deal with, otherwise other staff were very nice. I would rate this hotel as average.
“Bore off”
Moan moan moan, all the boring so called "reviewers" leaving bad reviews. Hahaha, you're here in winter, you paid half the summer price, you should know that the Spanish renovate their hotels at this time of year. Ahhhhhh diddummmmms, was it a bit noisy for you. Staff lovely, food fine, drinks cheap and fine, accommodation very nice, especially in the recently renovated rooms. Overall, fabulous value for money, unless you're a boring, moaning imbecile.
“Beautiful Hotel in fab location”
I was quite apprehensive going to the El Tope as I had read so many bad reviews. I knew as a solo traveller going with TUI I would probably be in a basement room which are talked about with horror by some reviewers. I was in 005 a basement room and I really liked it, felt very safe and had a fantastic panoramic view over the town centre and sea, the window was huge and the room was spotlessly clean and comfortable. I felt very well looked after with lots of changes of towels etc and the bed was very comfortable. I slept very well every night. The staff were all very professional and friendly. In the dining room I never had to wait more than a few minutes for the waiter to take my drinks order. There is no cash everything gets charged to your room and my bar bill at the end of the holiday was a very reasonable £85 that included a wine and water every night and some drinks at the bar. The entertainment wasn’t the best but I was quite happy sitting after dinner with a cocktail reading a book and listening to whatever was on. Location wise its half way between everything a quick 2 minute walk down around 120 steps or a 5 minute walk downhill. Coming back there are plenty stops on the steps going up or the hill isn’t too bad if you are fully mobile. A taxi was around 8 euros including a 2 euro tip from Plaza El Charco and there is a big supermarket right beside the taxi rank which is very reasonable. If you want night life there is some good places to go Tasca Minguis, Molly Malones, the quiz at the Robin Hood and to watch football etc The Beehive as well as some fantastic eateries all over the town. The Martianez shopping centre at the bottom of the steps has some great shopping and a big supermarket and there is a small supermarket right next to the hotel. It is very well located with fantastic views and the roof top bar has amazing views and lovely cocktails. Best of all for me in the hotel was the food. The dining room had a lovely ambiance and the food selection was outstanding. I don’t know why so many reviews said the food wasn’t good, in my opinion it was amazing. Breakfast has a huge selection of everything and at night the evening meal was fab. Brilliant salad selection, lots of veg, a roast every day, lots of different main courses to choose from and all the desserts were yummy. So please don’t be put off by the reviews. Next time I visit PDLC I will definitely be staying here again.
“Bad experience.”
Absolutely Dire, pneumatic drills going, said there maybe some minor work going on. !!! Noise in room horrendous, even by pool area. Said it will go on for the remainder of our stay. Staff not interested. Food poor, service poor. St great expense to ourselves we are changing hotels. Jet 2 said they'd meet with us. Can't see what they can do. Only after we booked did a prompter come up to say there might be some work going on. Very disappointed.
“Very average”
We came here on a jet 2 holiday and whilst the hotel was clean and “renovated” I wouldn’t give it a five star. The food in the buffet was very mediocre buffet food with both me and my partner who aren’t picky eaters mainly eating the pizza and pasta as the rest of the food was a lot of stew and soups which we just didn’t enjoy despite trying. The staff often acted very frustrated when simply asking them to do their job like asking the bar staff for a drink would lead them to acting annoyed. One staff member Beatriz deserves a seperate review as she was amazing, very funny kind and happy we really appreciated her. I wish there was more warning of how steep of a hill this hotel is placed as we were fine but if you have limited mobility you are going to struggle to get around unless you pay the extortionate price for taxis. When you check in don’t be fooled when they tell you you can get better prices for attractions if you book through them as it’s the same prices as the website. Strong upside was the hotels local cat that roamed outside but other then that it was a very average hotel with average food and average rooms. You’re also a while away from anything interesting so if you’re doing a relaxing holiday it’s fine but the pool is freezing cold so be warned and one of the buffet staff Joseph was quite predatory as soon as I went to the buffet alone and without my boyfriend he whispered I was beautiful and then came back to my table to give me his Instagram on a post it note. I will commend how jet2 and the manager handled this and apologised but it’s worth noting if your a solo traveler or going in a couple as it left me feeling a bit wary of going around the hotel alone especially to the buffet.
“Very Nice Hotel and Room with Great views.”
Visited over NY 25/26. Family room with tereace.... very spacious terrace, perfect for young kids to run around safely. Terrace had loungers and chairs on and a lovely view of Teide. Room was spacious for 4 (2a & 2teens) however there is not a lot of storage space. Wardrobe was limited with only 3 hangers each. No drawers, minimal shelves, no storage in bathroom for toiletries. The Beds were comfortable, you may need to request more pillows. Large TV in the room but no English channels. Main issue with the room is the shower. Due to the position of shower head the bathroom (and subsequently the room) flooded very quickly. We minimised this by using many many towels as a dam and had quick showers. There is a kettle and fridge in the room. The Hotel was great, breakfast was lovely everything you could want (tea cups are small). We didnt have any evening meals so cannot comment. The pool areas were very clean (it is out of season) and the splash pool area fab for young kids. Pool snacks were freshly made (when ordered and paid not AI). All the staff were lovely and helpful. There is a book swap near resteraunt (few English books) PLEASE NOTE - THE HOTEL IS LOCATED ON A STEEP HILL. Whilst getting around the hotel is ok, to venture anywhere outside you either need to go down a steep hill/steps or up a steep hill/steps!! There is a small supermarket just up the road that is open late and had all essentials (beer/wine/water/icecream/crisps) Pool Towels can be hired and swapped for 1 euro.
