“Stunning views vs. Poor service / Vistas de lujo empañadas por un servicio deficiente”
The best

No volveremos. ENGLISH VERSION: Stunning views ruined by poor service and a "budget" attitude. This hotel has massive potential, but management seems to have forgotten that hospitality is about people, not just scenery. The Positives: Housekeeping Staff: We want to highlight their great work; they were very efficient and professional throughout our stay. The Views: Truly world-class and definitely the highlight of the hotel. The Reality of the Stay: Arrogant Staff: Reception was cold and unprofessional. At the "Vértigo" Terrace, a staff member literally snatched empty glasses out of our hands and refused to give recommendations, telling us to just "look at the menu." Room Issues: The bathroom floods every time you shower, and charging a fee for the in-room safe in a 4-star establishment is an insult to guests. The Food: The buffet was repetitive, bland, and lacked flavor. It feels like the staff has forgotten who pays their salaries. I’ve noticed other guests complaining about the same issues—it’s a management failure. We won't be back.

“Disappointed.”
The best

When we arrive the hotel looked nice and clean. We were given room 312. Room lovely and views fab. Kettle glasses and teaspoons in room but no complimentary tea or coffee. Which is a surprise as meant to be four star. Also no robes or shoes for the spa. Room was cleaned to a high standard every day. When weather was no so good they close the roof top veranda and also you wasn’t allowed your own towel you had to have the hotel pool towels. And we saw a couple get asked to leave because they wouldn’t use the hotel ones even though they showed there room cards to prove they were guest. No where to sit and chill if the weather was bad. Only reception area. So limited space. Restaurant was hectic. I struggled with the food. Very samey each day. The chefs were rude. And on day4 I got food poisoning. The only thing different I ate from my husband was the soup which as it turned out was the same soup under a different name for 3 days. Also staff didn’t clear tables in between courses so plates got in the way when having dessert etc? We joined the spa for a week. Which was nice but a bit tired. Steam room wasn’t working all week and certain areas looked liked they could do with a good clean. And it did get very busy and I felt to many people are let in together. Should be spaced out more. Would I stay again. I don’t think so.

Upon arrival at the hotel at 11am we were informed that room was not ready so took our mobile number and would ring when it was ready. The gentleman could see at 2 pm we were still waiting so asked our name and informed us it would be 10 more minutes we final got key at 2.30 pm. The gentleman got us to read a sheet informing us times of breakfast and dinner and to use spa we would need hotel towels. I then asked if we could pay in cash and have what we spent added to our room he said we had to set up a tab and we had to pay upfront so we paid two hundred euros in all our years of staying in a hotel have never had to do this just paid the amount we owed when checking out. The room was amazing huge bed a his and hers sink big shower and we could change colour of shower to red blue green yellow. The view from balcony was panoramic. On our first day Saturday we went out and sat around the pool had a drink with no hotel towels on them then we went out to lunch and came back and sat sunbathing until 4 pm no problem no towels and nothing was said by anyone that we needed towels. The next day we went out for the morning and came back and got our own towels and went and sat around the pool we had been there around ten minutes and the lifeguard came and said we needed hotel towels. He then went to reception and guy who checked us in said we needed towels so we could be identified as guest why could they not accept our card wallet which you have to show in restaurant and bar. He went but did not say we couldn’t sit by the pool. The next day we went and sat at pool and the extremely rude manageress came out and told us in no uncertain circumstances we had to leave as we were told this the day before I tried to say we were not told this but she would no listen so we left the poolside and returned to our room I was glad we were going home the next day. We also found out that the bar did take cash so could have paid for drinks as we had them. Just like to say a thank you to the maid who cleaned our room. The chef who cooked omelettes which I knew would be hot but other food at breakfast and dinner Luke warm and food not great. Also a thank you to receptionist auburn hair didn’t get a name but she was lovely who checked us out on Tuesday. If you want a hassle free holiday then don’t go here to many rules and all you want to do is relax and I found out that this area is German quarter so bars and restaurants geared up for them will stay in the south in future

“Almost very good”

Room 611. Stayed for 4 nights. First. Staff at reception. Excellent. (Apart from one when checking out). The building is very nice. Location? Sea view is beautiful. All apartments appear to face the sea. However it is the wrong side for catching any sun on the balcony. In shade all the time. It was windy while we were there. In bed, the beautiful waves were so noisy that our sleep was constantly broken. Although the balcony doors were closed I felt the cold. Upon further investigation, I could see and feel the wind blowing through the side of the doors which should be sealed between the doors and walls. Reported this to receptionist and he said that it was very windy??? I thought he would apologise and say that he would report it to maintenance. Location. We were able to walk down to the centre but had to taxi back as it is very high up. 8 euros for taxi. Also be aware that this is in the “German” quarter according to a local that we met in the spa. Breakfast was entertaining watching the breakfast buffet peas, green beans, German sausage etc being enjoyed by the other guests. We didn’t go hungry as there were cereal and croissants to be had. We decided that we would go out in the evening for meals (even though we were half board) and found Indian, Chinese, tapas and pizzerias. We also found that the menu boards of cafes were geared for the German travellers. Poolside bar staff very unfriendly. On two separate days, I bought crisps which I returned as out of date. Went to sauna in spa. Light was off. Very cramped. My wife stumbled and hurt her leg but the biggest concern was that if she had put her hand down it would have been in the hot coals. Spa staff was informed but was very disinterested.

“Wellbeing spa and quality food. Stunning rooms and great facilities.”
The best

A 5 star wellbeing hotel The king-size bed. Floor to ceiling balcony sliding window. Private balcony facing nothing but the ocean. You feel like you are on a cruise ship. The dining experience was outstanding. The best I have experienced. No premium Tbone steak for evening meal, caviar and cava for breakfast included. The spa is €20 euros per person if you are staying at the hotel. I highly recommend the spa but you have to wear flip flops when walking around in the spa. The rooftop jacuzzi and sunbeds are limited but included in the stay.

“4-star property being run like a 2-star beach motel”
The best

4-star property being run like a 2-star beach motel. The rooms are comfortable and offer a beautiful view and experience of being right on a cliff above the ocean, overlooking the town of Puerto de la Cruz. This part was fantastic The rooftop area was also nice, though one jacuzzi was broken during our stay and never got fixed, so you had to wait your turn for a spot to open up in the two others. But otherwise, the hotel seems mainly defined by a rather hostile and distrustful attitude towards the guests and this makes for an unpleasant 2-star experience. For example: Upon check-in, we had to pay up front (A bit unusual, but fine), and were told that pool towels require a deposit, it costs money to use the safe in the room, and bathrobes would be at an extra cost. I've never encountered any of this at a 4-star property. The room/bathroom has a fridge and microwave, which was great, but then no amenities. I saw the hotel reply to other reviews and state that they don't provide single-use items for environmental reasons, but many hotels solve this by using refillable dispensers of shampoo, body wash, etc. It's totally standard. There were no tissues in the bathroom, and I had a bit of a cold one day, but when I asked at reception she said they only had toilet paper. It was just weird. Breakfast was anything but a relaxing experience, crowded, loud, no order, not very clean. Lots of options but most of them unappetizing. Hostile staff. Staff were mostly unhelpful. Asking about options to get a transfer to the airport I was told to look online. Anyone working at the reception of any hotel should absolutely be able to advise on something like this. A weird experience. Again, sitting on the balcony of our room was divine, but too many things are amiss.
