Subject: Disappointing Experience at Hotel Avenida 111 – Request for Compensation Dear Booking.com Customer Service, I’m writing regarding our recent stay at Hotel Avenida 111, which we booked through your platform—just one of many hotels we reserved as part of a two-week trip. We've used your service for years and have always trusted it to help us choose reliable accommodations. Unfortunately, this particular experience was deeply disappointing. Upon arrival, there was no reception staff present; our room keys were simply left unattended on the front desk for anyone to take. The hotel itself was in poor condition—far from the standard described online. The advertised on-site restaurant was closed, and we were told our only dining options were a roadside service café next door or a makeshift “restaurant” that felt more like an extension of the truck stop. The hotel’s location—approximately 1.5 miles from the nearest village. After walking 20 miles that day on our Camino Way hiking holiday, we asked a hotel employee about getting a taxi into town. He instead offered to drive us himself for €50, warning us a taxi would cost even more. Thankfully, not being born yesterday, we declined and did indeed walk. Inside the hotel, hallways were cluttered with empty water bottles and broken items—damaged fans, a vacuum cleaner, and even a refrigerator. The environment did not reflect the standards we’ve come to expect from listings on your website. We understand that service stations attract commercial drivers—this wasn’t the issue. The problem was the significant mismatch between the listing and the reality. It felt misleading and left us frustrated at the end of an already long day when we were hoping for a clean, restful environment. We’ve remained loyal users of Booking.com because we rely on your listings to reflect a certain level of quality. In this case, we feel badly let down.
