“Check in staff were great, night staff were not so good”
It is quite a noisy hotel due to marble floors which make it a bit of an echo chamber. It has a very small car park for which we paid about 17 euros or so per night. The car park is very tight and spaces can be challenging. I could not believe on our last night we were woken up by Manuel on reception it was after midnight and he wanted me to move my car! It was because my car was in an electric car space which was the only space available when we parked. But to call us up at that time and get us out of bed to move the car was very annoying. It topped off 7 nights of bad sleep. On the plus side hotel location and the check in staff were great.
“People and dogs are treated like VIPs here! We'll definitely be back!”
The location is perfect, and the ocean view room is beautiful. Surprisingly, for a long-established four-star hotel, there's no extra charge for pets! I highly recommend this hotel so pet friendly! The room was spacious, the bed was incredibly comfortable, and the bathroom was excellent! The mini-fridge worked perfectly, and the staff was friendly. The hotel uses a traditional credit card guarantee system, with automatic debits upon checkout.
The room cards often expired, which was a bit inconvenient.
“Delicious food and panoramas”
Such amazing views of the harbour area. Excellent breakfast and super friendly reception staff.
Some of the decor and condition of appliances show the signs of age but in a delightfully retro way that it felt like stepping back into a luxurious time in the 1970s.
“Central hotel near the old town and the port”
The hotel is nicely located next to the old town from where you have access to many restaurants, coffee shops, bars, markets, etc. In case you plan a boat trip, the port is on the opposite side of the street. There's also a bus stop, which we used to take a bus to go to the beach. Our car could be left in the parking garage (17€/ night). The rooms are huge and everything was clean. Everything was easy to organize and we enjoyed our time.
However, the hotel is very old and a bit worn. The furniture is new and I think inside it was renovated, but all in all it was a bit less for the price of >100€. In the bathroom it was rusty. I missed a small coffee machine or the opportunity to have a tea in the room. The breakfast is okay, but nothing special. In my opinion it's a bit overpriced, hence I would not book it again.
“Perfect for Cies Islands ferry”
Very large very comfortable bed. Sofa bed in living area was comfy too. Room was a good size for a family of 3 including a teenager for a couple of nights. We appreciated the contrast between the somewhat grim exterior of the hotel and the clean, modern room with a lovely bathroom and fantastic sea view. Perfect for the Cies Island ferry - it’s so close to the terminal you can practically fall out of bed onto the ferry!
The sea view apartment is a large open plan room that’s been partitioned and there’s no door between the bedroom and the living area so there’s no privacy when the sofa bed in the living area is in use. The kitchen is adequate for a short stay but only just - we had to eat our breakfast cereal out of mugs as the only crockery provided was plates!
