The facilities at the Best San Francisco are excellent and immaculate. The staff are friendly and attentive and they provide fantastic customer service. We are hoping to book a 10 night stay next year!
“Lovely hotel shame about the food”
Hotel is lovely, clean modern, rooms nice but not very spacious, 2 double beds in our room which left very little space for 2 of us, it would be incredibly squashed if it was for a family. Staff were friendly no issues with them, we had to speak to them on several occasions with problems with toilet and husbands room key never worked, had to get it reactivated every day. Pool is decent though not a lot of space for beds. The bad point is food, DO NOT take any food option it is shockingly bad, I wish id seen the reviews about food before I upgraded to HB. The food is in large silver containers sat on a marble shelf with no heat, so its always cold. Even breakfast wasnt great took quite a few times through the toaster just to toast the bread, the only hot food is eggs which are cooked to order but always a long queue. Salou itself is a lovely resort but its very expensive now as we found out when we ended up having to go out for every meal.
“Not a 4 star in my opinion”
We found the food low quality and mostly cold as many previous reviewers so please do not say "we will pass on my comments to the relevant people" because you obviously don't, or they take no action. Entertainment was dire. I couldn't open an account for bar purchases, although I did provide my credit card details for this purpose i was informed by the bar manager that this was only for drinks in the restaurant and then when the receptionist checked with the bar manager he told him the same. Rooms are small but are adequate & clean Location very good.
“Temperature of food dreadful”
Hotel/room all good. Good location. Shame about the food. Despite other reviews nothing has been done to improve the heat of the food. Evening meal starts at 7.30pm so we was normally 3rd or 4th in - when going into the restaurant you are greeted with pizza which leads onto the chef cooking fresh meats - the pizza was always cold at that time. Obviously as the check is cooking fresh meats that and the pasta which is already cooked and just reheated for 1 minute was the only hot food we had. There is then a salad bar followed by a desert bar (why put deserts inbetween is beyond me) then you get to chips. potatoes, veg etc - this is on what can only be described as a slightly heated work top in pots, every item I tried was cold, if you managed to get to the bottom of the pot then it was slightly warmer. Other reviews have also commented on the "Cold food" but nothing has changed. This my first time in the "Best hotel chain" and will certainly be my last. The poolside is cleaned by several cleaners yet the left over beach towels are not removed each morning, infact 2 beds were taken up for 3 days before someone removed them (just before I was going to remove them). Some people managed to reserve beds before the 10am door opening yet the cleaners ignored this and left the towels on the bed. So therefore sunbed monitoring does not happen in this hotel and therefore many guests got a bed, towels down and disappeared for hours. Yes people were queuing from 9.40am for doors to open to the pool arear. As for the lifeguard, we seen 2 in our 5 day stay and the fair haired one went off on a group of women who had moved sunbeds directly infront of him, though this was the wrong thing to do which you only learn by seeing what others do, he let rip and totally embarrassed them for over 5 minutes ranting in Spanish at them, the other one was so placid he wasnt't fussed when others did similar. There is a display on reception about keeping your room on 40 euro's till 2pm and 50 till 6pm, so with a 10pm flight we asked as stated the day before to be told come back 4pm ish, came back, got told to come back the day we were leaving and see then. Decided to ask another member of staff who confirmed all rooms were taken so fully booked, that saved us embarrassing ourselves asking again on the day of departure - they should all be saying the same thing. They do offer you another room to shower but you have to request that at 10am the morning of departure and is timed, if your too long you will be phoned. All staff especially restaurant staff were all great, no complaints.
