To be improved
Upon arrival, about 30 minutes before the scheduled check-in time, I rang an external bell and was greeted by a gentleman who did not identify himself. He informed us, rather unwelcomingly, that check-in would only begin at 3:00 PM. I asked if I could at least leave our luggage there, and to make it easier, he, not showing much enthusiasm, allowed us to enter. However, the reception lacked warmth and friendliness, which was disappointing from the start.
As soon as we entered, the strong smell of mold in the air stood out. We were guided to our room by the same gentleman, who turned on the air conditioning, but the discomfort increased due to the dark atmosphere and the strong damp smell. The instructions regarding the Wi-Fi and hotel services were presented in an impersonal manner; the gentleman pointed us to a laminated paper on the room table with food prices and Wi-Fi information. He requested our documents and left the room. He returned and handed back the documents.
After a while, the air conditioning began to make excessive noise, making it impossible to relax. When I tried to report the problem, I again found no one available at the reception and had to resort to the bell. Finally, Mr. Pepe appeared and, after I informed him of the issue, he offered to change to an alternative room, which turned out to be significantly better than the first. The new room was more spacious, with more efficient air conditioning and no unpleasant smell.
The next day, breakfast was simple, consisting of toasted bread, a slice of cheese, some slices of ham, grated tomato, a cup of coffee, and a glass of juice for each of us. Nothing special, below any expectations. The friendliness of a lady who came by brought some relief to the service.
However, at the end of the stay, I was surprised to have to make the payment, believing that the charge had already been processed through Booking.com.
