“A wonderful week at this charming hotel”
This is a beautiful, peaceful, small (11 rooms) hotel looking over the sea. The hotel’s position in Playa Blanca is perfect, a short walking distance to all the facilities. We could not recommend it more highly. Great breakfasts.
“Secret paradise in the heart of Playa Blanca”
The boutique hotel was not the same like others hoteles nearby, this one has unique characters, specially in suites rooms..
“Hidden Gem”
What an amazing place. It’s exquisite. Panoramic views across the bay. You feel like you are staying in a friend’s home. As the former Ambassador’s house it has a colonial feel & full of traditional features with a lovely sitting room & honesty bar. Lots of areas to sit outside and your own area outside your room with both chairs and sun beds. Very comfortable room & bed. Luxurious bedding. We slept with the window open & so peaceful with the sound of the waves. It’s restoring. Breakfast is layed out in a gorgeous courtyard terrace. Lots of choice & the extra touches of homemade rolls & cake. Daisy who runs the hotel with her husband Rae is so kind, helpful, friendly & happy. They work so hard to keep everything pristine & to make your stay extra special. We swam every day in the (very cold) tranquility pool & even saw dolphins. The hotel is in the heart of PB with its own car park. Lots of lovely restaurants our favourite an Italian called L’Artista & favourite bar La Galeria. This was our second stay & can highly recommend.
“Fabulous”
This wonderful, exquisite hidden gem of a hote lin Playa Blanca - just 10 rooms and 2 suites is luxury and tranquility just a stones throw from the promanade. It is kept running smoothly by Daisy and Ray, Daisy is worth her weight in gold (I hope the owners pay her well). Nothing is too much trouble for her and she always has a smile on her face. She works very hard to keep everything spick and span. Ray keeps the grounds and pool looking immaculate. Our only complaint was that the pool was far too cold - it certainly needs some solar heating installling. We had a fabulous stay and would certainly stay again should we come back to Playa Blanca. “A gem.”
Great location in centre of Playa, fabulous and panoramic sea views, yet amazingly peaceful. Stylish colonial-style building, spotlessly clean and well maintained by wonderful staff. New pool, several shaded sitting areas, all with fine views and attractive planting, and each room has a sea-facing terrace with comfy sunbeds ( not always easy to lie down in shade though). Rooms are a pleasant change from the standard modern hotel - traditional furnishings and comfy beds and high quality linens. Bathroom small but perfectly formed. Plenty of wardrobe space. A cross between an exquisite boutique hotel and a five star b and b - honesty bar, no 24 hour reception, serve yourself breakfast etc - but no less pleasing for that. I enjoyed the breakfasts, though I'd guess the eggs and excellent bacon might be a little cool if you like a lie in. Slight downside was the fresh coffee - a slow queue for the single nespresso machine or a thermal jug of barely warm coffee. Room for improvement here. The overall experience though is excellent, with a few minor flaws easily outweighed by a very special feel. A welcome change from bland hotels. A gem, to be returned to.
“Sublime!”
I was genuinely sad to leave this place. Wished I were staying three weeks not three days. By contrast I am in a standard hotel now. Noise of other guests in the elevator, standard ikea style furniture. Casa del Embajador is a dream. There are very few places like it. It is as if you are staying in a friend’s house, one that has been in the family for decades. The art, the furniture, the plants, all real and lovingly cared for. Only twelve rooms and all face the sea. Sound of surf reaches embroidered sheets. The view is impossibly beautiful. Time stops. Deeply relaxing and nourishing. A discreet quietness everywhere all day long. Guests reading books not phones. Everyone cordial yet respectful of one another’s private relaxation. Lovely staff, kind, interested and helpful. Didn’t even show my passport until day 2. One of my top hotel discoveries in my life, probably THE top.
