Soulless business hotel which seemed almost empty when we stayed. A VERY long way from old town - not 20 minutes walk as some reviews suggested, more like 45 minutes. But worst of all was that having downloaded menu in room and noted the restaurant was open 7 days, having seen a menu in the lift also claiming 7 day opening, and having asked the receptionist what time we could eat in the restaurant, we returned to find it closed and only a bar (no food) available. It also appeared to be closed for breakfast next morning. Really unacceptable in a 4* hotel as was the fact that I found a discarded toilet roll in my bed.

“Nice facility but poor location.”

Front desk staff were very friendly. Hotel looks very new but seemed to be quite empty. The breakfast buffet was good.

The location seems to be poor. We couldn't get a taxi from the train station and had to walk to the hotel. Maybe because it was a Sunday, the town seemed to be deserted. We didn't find any restaurants or stores nearby.

“Pleasantly surprised by this hotel and location”

We picked this hotel for ease of driving / parking as we were only using ponferrada as a one night stop over. Hotel met our needs with a large clean room , secure parking and a very good breakfast. It is a 30 minute walk to the castle which is a must visit and it should also be noted that the residential area just 5 minutes walk away has a great choice of local / good restaurants and bars. - we had a really good menu de dia as a late lunch and also spent a pleasant couple of hours same evening halving wine / tapas

To be improved

We were very pleasantly surprised with all aspects of the hotel and its slightly out of town location. Unfortunately as the hotel was not busy there was just a lack of atmosphere

Although it was modern and comfortable, there were some stain on the wall next to the bed that should have been cleaned!!
