Hotel Costabella

Everything about this hotel was great! We had brought our tandem bike. They gave us a separate parking garage for the bike. The staff was very helpful, particularly Miguel, who daily gave us excellent recommendations of places to see, restaurants to eat at, and flawless directions. One day he even came running out, to catch us and give us a new map route that took into account one way streets. The rooms were spacious, as was the bathroom. I asked for bath with a bathtub, which they provided. When the tub wouldn’t hold water, they immediately came up with a stopper so I could bathe. The pool was situated in a quiet, private spot, with excellent sitting area, and a small terrace to have a drink. A really good experience and good value!

We stayed here for 6 nights and found it was an excellent base for Girona, the coast and Barcelona. The hotel was clean and modern. I would recommend a room at the back of the hotel. Breakfast was good (€15pp) but it is not excellent as stated in other reviews. We ate at some lovely cafes in the old town. The hotel restaurant was not to our liking as it was tuna tartare and cuttlefish on the menu each time we looked so we ate in independence square (open til late which was useful for our late arrival) and in the old town. The walk to the city is 25 into the main centre. The bus is every 15 mins (€1.40). The walk along the river into the city is quite a detour unless we missed a path down to it? The pool area is nice and clean and yes, there is some road noise and some noise from the hospital but I wouldn’t say it was excessive. The hotel gym is very basic with no air con. The dumbbells go up to 20kg and there is a bike and decent treadmill. I would recommend the 45 min drive to Tossa de mar and the 1hr 10 min drive to Barcelona. I would recommend this hotel.

Spent an afternoon in Girona last year so decided to have a break for my wifes birthday and our wedding anniversary. Beautiful hotel. Very clean throughout. Breakfast was amazing. Staff very helpful. Nice sun terrace, spa and fitness centre and nice relaxing pool area Definitely returning

We had a great stay at Hotel Costabella. The hotel itself is well-appointed with updated rooms, a really good breakfast and a nice outdoor pool. But what really sets the Costabella apart is the outstanding staff who go out of their way to make you feel welcome and help with whatever you might need in Girona. On top of all that, it's a really good value as well!

Great 3 star hotel situated outside of the main area of Girona. Miguel was absolutely amazing, helpful and kind and really made my stay special. Muchas gracias Miguel!! Rooms are bright with good air con, comfortable beds and big private bathrooms. I had to move rooms during my stay from a single room to a triplet so I can say quality and comfort was the same regardless of size. ( moving rooms was irritating on my last night as the hotel was not sold out but not a big deal as I travel light and just left my suitcase in storage ) Pool and pool area is lovely to relax by at any time of day. Honesty bar in the lobby is handy for wine by the pool (10E for a mini bottle) or coffee (1.5E) in the morning ( rooms have instant coffee but may not be caffeinated depending on what housekeeping leaves). It is by a hospital & busy road but the hotel was quiet. Checkin and checkout was not the best, after chatting with other guests, it seems to really depends on who is working the front desk. I took the train to Girona and walked to the hotel. It was 28/30 degrees- takes 25 min and you walk under the train tracks on a beautiful bike/walkway to a park- cut through a paved shaded park path to the bridge then walk 10 min in the sun ( side walk by shopping ) or in the shade ( on road bike path) to the hotel. Walking into town for dinner (highly recommend txalaka Girona) or to explore was safe and easy. I really enjoyed the walk. Other guests walked or took a bus in. I also took the train to Figueres and a bus to Costa brava (with some tips from Miguel!) so this hotel was a great base to explore more. I will stay again. It is a perfect escape.

Hotel costabella is a lovely hotel about a 15-20 minute walk from central Girona. The place is modern, clean and very well serviced, the staff cannot be faulted they are welcoming, helpful and deliver a good level of service. The honesty bar is a really nice touch and has a good selection of snacks and drinks. The breakfast we added and was a good selection but wasn’t topped us as regularly as needed when it got busier at 9.30-10.30 so would recommend that is improved slightly. The pool images are a little deceiving as it’s quite small but was never an issue in terms of sunbeds etc. I will also say more pillows in the room would be appreciated and the beds are quite hard so sleep wasn’t the best while we were there. We had a lovely stay but small things could be improved to make it extra special.
