Hotel Ercilla de Bilbao, Autograph Collection

Family vacation of 4 people. Extra surprise to be offered 2 connecting rooms which was convenient. Clean and tidy rooms but starting to show its age a little and can use a renovation soon. The parkade is a bit tight (normal for Europe - we rented a BMW X3 and that got in and out ok. We selected breakfast as a platinum welcome amenity and the buffet spread was pretty good.

Despite I upgraded my room, its size is still pretty small. It will be difficult if you have three full sized suitcases. On the good side, the hotel probably has been remodeled in the last few years, breakfast is good, service is excellent and location is outstanding. It is near the pedestrian streets, plenty of restaurants and bars and within walking distance to Guggenheim.

A warm welcome from Mikal , who is an excellent ambassador for Marriott and Autograph. He recognised my Titanium Elite status and upgraded me to a spacious suite. His team are friendly, smiling and professional . Great room, uniquely with a stereo and long playing record., nice coffee table books and magazines. Very comfortable bed with luxury towels, linens, and toiletries. Doris, housekeeping, attended to any detail requested, with a smile. Both Concierge, Jon and I’m sorry I didn’t get the others name, are charming and helpful. Location is very central for Guggenheim , the Old Quarter and shopping. Beautiful Julia gave me some great eating referrals: spot on. Mugi Bar is a must. The bar is great for cocktails, and smart service in nice classic surroundings. Hospitable and charming Javier and his team made breakfast very nice . Good variety and a reflection of the Basque cuisine that the region is famous for. In all a great stay, Thankyou. I will return to see more of this great destination.

Considering how ridiculously overpriced hotel rooms are in Bilbao these days (often more expensive than hubs like Sydney or Shanghai, which is a total joke), I thought location+staff+room for the amount I paid were way above Bilbao average. So only for that reason I think it was a solid option. There is shitholes in Bilbao which are more expensive than Ercilla which is a great hotel, so yeah.

Well equipped, very comfortable and clean room with everything provided for a relaxing stay. Lovely very popular rooftop bar (you need to reserve an outside table in advance) with views over the city. Very helpful staff.

Our stay in Ercilla de Bilbao was awesome and so luxurious! From the help and advice from the bellboys to the ease of check-in at the front desk, to the extremely comfortable beds and pillows and the high-pressure shower and amenities, this hotel is def top notch!
