“Beautiful hotel which needs to review it's charging policy”

Very spacious room and imaginative, unusual decor. Pleasant courtyard space for breakfast, weather permitting. Room with private secluded terrace. Attractive pool area with spectacular view of town and castle. Shady garden area with same view. The whole hotel with every space conceived as an original architectural statement. Impressive.

To be improved

We booked the most expensive ¨luxury " room category, and were surprised at hotel policy which came across as petty and tight. Parking should be included in the room price in this category even if it means an adjustment in hotel pricing. It's not the money in itself, but charging an extra 6 euros per day for the privilege of leaving the car on a shadeless patch of gravel at the top of the lot seems mean and grabbing. Similarly breakfast included should be just that - included. At check-out an attempt to charge extra because we had consumed more breakfast items than were included - (no specifics on the bill, but perhaps, we were told, one slice of tostada too many or a little plate of fruit), gave, again a very negative impression, particularly as this limit was not made clear by the serving staff. We speak fluent Spanish. I complained and the receptionist immediately backed down. WiFi was completely absent on the terrace, where you would need it most. Finally, as said above, the design of the hotel is spectacular - prizeworthy -but is showing signs of neglect, which is a pity. Beautiful water features were all dried up, and our terrace was scattered with dead leaves and a large potted plant and trailing wall plants had succumbed for lack of water.

“The hotel was well located.and the bed was very comfortable. · Cons: The WiFi was non-existent. This is such a basic need in today's world that I could not give the hotel more than an 8 despite its other good qualities. And the included breakfast was toast with ham and tomato, OJ and coffee.”
