Air conditioner wasn’t operating at this stage, reception did not specify this specific aspect. Sleep wasn’t peaceful and quiet as street was noisy and could not shut the window as it was too warm indoors. Reception mentioned air con was not operating yet as it was not warm enough, something that could apply to locals but seldom to foreigners. Second thing is mattress was too old and well used my back could feel springs stuck to my bones. Facilities are old, breakfast included is somewhat nice but not much as an option to choose from. Staff are nice and polite.

“Clean, quiet and friendly.”

Based on others’ reviews we chose Hotel Gema for our one night stopover. The room was spacious, clean, quiet and warm. Big bathroom too. The reception and restaurant (in the lower ground floor - take the lift) staff were very helpful and friendly. The night we stayed was Carnival so we had a lively introduction to the village of Almadén. Would recommend Hotel Gema.
