“Super Bien!”
Great location in Antequera with a very helpful front desk. The room itself is very basic, but clean, and the bathroom is large and also very clean. Took advantage of the terrace with a pool - plenty of shade for relaxing. The pool was very cold, but very refreshing. The breakfast was awesome - about $9 USD and a beautiful buffet. Open to 10:30, so you can have just dinner with this one.

“Gem of a place”
Friendly staff, good breakfast, some thoughtful options and attended by a staff member who replaced items, helped and kept it clean. Room size was great for 3 of us. Shower was clean & had sufficient power. Location good, cool room in the heat.
The pool area had little shade, we didn't use it as it was extremely hot. The bathroom door stuck and the shower door did not operate smoothly.
“Nice little hotel on a budget.”
Small hotel located below the Alcazabar. Clean reception, prompt service. Comfortable beds. Quiet rooms. Efficient air conditioning. Balcony doors can be opened. Road outside but low volume of traffic, none at night. Towels and bedding changed every day. Pool towels available from reception. Kettle, coffee, tea and sugar but oddly, no milk. TV but no English channels and the highest volume is Small fridge with free drinks as we upgraded the room (201) though the drinks were cheap - 2 water, 2 Fanta and 2 Cruzcampo. Free parking not far away but it is a very big, dusty car park so your car will get dirty. It has a pool but it's very small and steps take up about a quarter of it. Thousands of swifts to watch, if you like birds (June). Main shops (Mercadona, Dia etc) and restaurants nearby.
We upgraded the room as we wanted a balcony. While there is a full balcony in one room at the back, with a view of the Alcazabar, our balconies were Juliet balconies, more ledges. The "city view" was a wall opposite - though we had an oblique view of the nearby square, to the left and over the rooftops to the Hermitage, to the right. Cold home-made lemonade on arrival, in reception, was very welcome though we never saw that again and the water dispenser alongside was lukewarm and needs to be upgraded to a chilled version. They should offer the lemonade. The pool area and furniture was slightly shabby and needs updating. No facilities up there except for loungers. The old roller blinds over the Juliet balconies were good for keeping the room cool but were unwieldy to raise and secure. We arrived on a Sunday but Antequera is a ghost town on Sundays and the restaurants don't open until 8.30pm but we found out there is a vibrant, open mall called La Veronica, a short drive away, which has Carrefour and a load of shops inside. We only found out on the last day. Ignore the Booking.com list of facilities - no cookies, wine etc, no clothes rack or dryer bar a towel rail and the toiletries are pump dispensers. No plug in the sink either. Shower holder a bit iffy and the toilet roll holder kept falling off. The key holder is large and heavy.
