Hotel Iriarte Jauregia

Absolutely no complaints. This is a beautiful small period hotel, only a ten minute drive from the Motorway, into the hills…. peace and quiet. Stayed for one night as a stopover but would have loved to stay for longer and explore the area. Very hospitable staff, beautiful room with views….. and dog friendly too. We had a lovely evening meal after G&T’s in the bar. Life is good !

This hotel is just far enough removed from town to avoid any excess noise or distractions. Sitting out on their sun Terrace was a most relaxing activity. The staff, especially Di and Ena, went out of their way to make our stay as comfortable as possible. The restaurants had delicious cuisine worthy of the Michelin rating. We will not forget this hotel anytime soon.

We chose this hotel because we wanted to get to know the region and not have to enter the city every evening. It seemed like a good choice to us. But from the moment we arrived we discovered a place that exceeded our expectations. A friendly work group makes you feel at home. Friendliness, excellent rooms and brilliant cuisine. They have two restaurants with different characteristics. We met both, and we really rated the menu at the gastronomic restaurant with a top. The weather helped us have breakfast on the terrace all three days and it was a constant enjoyment. The detail they have in using freshly made products, excellent quality and good taste is appreciated. It has been a wonderful experience, and we will return!

A lousy experience the place is nice but there’s nothing to do here. It’s a lot better to stay in San Sebastian. The person is very rude especially Reception. I will never return here. Don’t waste your time and your money. They don’t care about you at all. The worst customer service ever, and there’s nothing to eat around here

Getting to the hotel is to say the least interesting, a narrow and winding road leads you eventually to a delightful building which has obviously been lovingly restored by its owners, let’s start with the initial impression there is no friendly greeting by reception merely the formalities of documentation and exchange of credit card details, our room was consistent of what you would expect of an updated old Spanish residence, clean, tidy and with a modern if compact bathroom. I never like being negative but the place lacks even a modicum of ambiance, there is no feeling of warmth or hospitality, the bar area is cold and uninviting, we ate in the Bistro so can’t comment on the Michelin starred main Restaurant but the Bistro is again uninspired and lacks any sort of ambience mainly due to the appalling lighting, architecturally a delightful room but with lighting more appropriate for an airport lounge and absolutely zero ambiance, the staff strutt around with their earpieces more like bouncers than waiting staff and despite being pretty much full it was a place of silent whispers. It could be so much more but failed to impress.

We had been really looking forward to our stay and dining experience but were sadly disappointed. The hotel building and location are beautiful but sadly a lack of attention to detail which impacted considerably on our stay. The patio tables outside were dirty, unkempt and uncomfortable. There is no comfortable lounge seating in the public spaces and the bar area feels more like a doctors waiting room with basic chairs which are uncomfortable and completely incongruous with the building and style of the hotel. It would have been helpful to have known the menu of tasting menu to allow for appropriate wine selection and the lighting in this room is incredibly bright which spoils the atmosphere. The staff seem untrained and service was chaotic and confused. A few changes could make a big difference to the comfort and enjoyment of customer experience.
