Hotel Juan Manuel

Fully appreciating that you can only book in at 16:00 we are walking the Camino and arrived 2 hours earlier (impossible to time walking) sweating etc and were told we had to wait which we understood. Other pilgrims began arriving and we waited outside having food and drinks. We actually got to our room at 16:40 after multiple visits to the bar counter and each time we (and others) were asked to wait. When we noticed other people getting keys a number of pilgrims went to the counter to ask for their keys. When we went to ask at 16:40 we were originally told to wait again then one of the bar team pointed to our key...it appears the room has been ready a while. We felt that attentive staff would have come to us and the other pilgrims to say it's now okay to check in rather than leaving us outside in the heat. I fully appreciate the bar staff were busy all afternoon and it's not their fault but I would suggest they would give a vastly different experience if they improved their systems of operations... should they so wish. It's the only part that let the hotel down - really bad checking in experience. After 35 days in different hotels each night we sadly ranked this as the least best. Hope it was a one off because everything else was fine...it's just for what we wanted the check in was important.
