“Ideal Hotel”
A really nice hotel. Friendly staff, an excellent breakfast and our room was very large and exceptionally warm for the winter. The setting is nice, if quite stark.
“So disappointed”
We went for lunch today. Compared to many local restaurants it was not inexpensive. However having been before, some time ago, it's a good location, not far from home, and the dining room is lovely. I don't know if there's a new ownership but lunch today was just awful. My husband had two dishes with additional supplements. The first was Burrata with salsa. The Burrata was tough. Maybe past it's best? The mango and tomato salsa not ripe, hard and tasteless. His steak was served with a few rocket leaves on top a grating of parmesan and nothing else. I gave him half of the potatoes served with my very tiny fish. Crema Catalana was our dessert of choice. A staple on any menu. This one came from a packet, looked and tasted awful. The caramel crispy layer was almost non existent. We both left it after a spoonful. The waiter offered us something else instead. My husband declined. I chose profiteroles. They had obviously been frozen and microwaved before serving so hot and running in the middle and inedible. This is such a pity. What a lovely location and such bad food.
“Be careful how you arrive. It might cost you”
Was planning to visit with the family for dinner by helicopter. I am a pilot. Emailed to book a table and request landing site location to be told there was a €150 landing fee per three hours. I have landed at countless hotels and have never been asked to pay a landing fee. For reference a landing fee at Girona International airport is less than €50 and they provide fire services and air traffic control plus a runway ! What utter gouging - I wonder if you arrive in an expensive car is there a similar fee. Says a lot about the management that you “tax”customers depending on how they arrive. What service was I getting for €150? A piece of grass in a field to rest two skids on for 3 hours. Charging a fee to land an aircraft brings you into the real or commercial heliports. Be careful what you wish for. With fees comes responsibly! Booked another hotel nearby and received a warm welcome. BH
“A fairytale property”
This is a stunningly beautiful hotel and location. The place is something out of a fairytale the buildings furniture and fittings are old but the quality and the beauty is exceptional. Surrounded by nature with meadows and woodland. This far exceeds anything with modern fittings and manicured lawns. If that’s what you like this is not your place. For those that enjoy exceedingly good quality and to be surrounded by nature there is no better place. Expect the best quality linens and towels. Beautiful and comfortable lounges a romantic restaurant with fabulous food and very friendly staff. Sadly we were only here for one night as we were travelling through spain but I could have happily stayed a week. We are already planning to go back for a longer stay.
“Short break to the Costa Brava. Hotel booked by accident.”
Fantastic hotel with excellent rooms and lavisch decoration. Very quit area, large swimming pool. Very good restaurant. We were fortunate to get an upgrade to a superior suite. One of these old style hotels where you really feel at home. Merits largely its 5 star rating.
“Nice but very tired and over priced”
Lovely hotel when it was in its prime. However Hotel is tired. Paying London prices in May in Palamos ! Room has a music system for CD's and iPhones that dont even exist anymore. No coffee machine. Wall, furntiture and fixtures needs painting Hotel is nothing like the photos. Grass around swimming pool is too long and looks messy Main hotel areas were nice, but again very tired Food in restaurant was ok, my lamb was not hot and was then heated by microwave!! No staff offered to help take luggage to the room However the staff were very nice and helpful on the whole. The Dutch lady (maybe manageress) was really nice and helpful - she even offered an upgrade when the internet was not working in our room We had a lovely time, but they really need to spend some time and money making it feel fresh and invest in more modern amentities
